Granted, but waitressing positions generally get paid below minimum wage due to tips.

Might depend on where you're working?

I think in Alberta you still have to get paid minimum, even though you get tips. (But you usually don't get paid higher than that. But it's also been a while since I waitressed - for very good reason - waitressing sucks. :) )

Yeah, waiting tables is a funky deal in the U.S. Technically, employers are supposed to make up the difference if tips don't take waiters over minimum wage. But then again, if you report your tips, you have to pay taxes on them. And you almost always make more than you're required to report. Or otherwise, why wait tables?

Alright, Fel for one, was right! I work as a waitress most of the time. Though I do admit I do have small side jobs.

Minimum wage here in the state of Mississippi is 5.85 nowadays. Which is what I get paid. I just rounded it up to 11 due to being tired and lazy ;)

I do make tips, but we split our tips with everyone working our shift.

Minimum wage plus tips is REALLY good for a waitress.

And Earaldor, I dont think I'm old enough to be asistant manager, besides, I love the one we have. She is the best person at work. Without her, I'd be fired XD

"For once?" =P

But yeah, seriously.
Minimum wage for a waitress is great. Whether you pool your tips or not.

Minimum wage here is $6.67. But for tipped employees? $3.77

That's partly why working at Sonic was so awesome. Not only did I get to skate on the job, but those skates raked in some good tips, if you knew how to skate. Trust me. ;) Plus minimum wage? Oh... It made up for smelling like burgers every day, trust me.

And i was on 'A-Team', which means they loaned me out to stores that were just opening. While every other employee was just hired in the area with absolutely no experience on opening day, they brought over maybe 5 employees that were supposed how to do -everything- in the store.
Would pay for travel to get to new store, and hotel while you were there.

Then, $10 an hour. Plus time and a half for overtime. (i'd be working at least 12 hour shifts every day for 2 weeks. i had overtime by mid week.) Plus tips are even better when the store first opens. Especially when there's only a handful of you working there that knows what the heck they are doing. And it shows.
Granted, having to do everything in the store, you didn't always have a chance to skate out and get tips. But the times you did. Oh boy.
i think i made well over $100 in tips in just a couple hours one day.
Tiring, but well worth it.

Mmm. i kind of miss that.

And i like to think daily skating really helped me keep in shape back then. Killer leg muscles. Heck yeah.

No not for once =P

We have a Sonic here, but my town is so little! And Sonic here sucks >_< Nor are they allowed to skate anymore... too many booty busters hehe.

I suck at skating... give me a skateboard and we're good =P

And Insanity... shame on you!
