Well, I can't find it on Google, so I figured I'd ask here...

If you have 36 variables (26 from A-Z and 10 from 0-9) how many combinations of letters and numbers can you make if the choices can be a 1, 2, 3, or a 4 variable combination? And how is the math on that achieved?

e.g. ab30, 20, 30as, kf93, etc.

36^1 = 36
36^2 = 1,296
36^3 = 46,656
36^4 = 1,679,616

If I understood what you wanted correctly...

Edit:

The answers above are for 1, 2, 3 and 4 digit combinations only, respectively. If you want the answer for a 1, 2, 3 or 4 digit combination, you need to add all of those together:

36 + 1,296 + 46,656 + 1,679,161 = 1,727,604

I might be wrong, I'm not good at math, but...

Is that right? I mean, does that include combinations like "aaaa" "bbbb" "cccc" etc?

Yeh..

36*36*36*36 = 36^4 = 1,679,616

Edit: While I'm at it, I should point out that this is the wrong forum. :P

I edited my reply, by the way, and yes it would include duplicate digits.

Lilith hun if you have a graphing calculator put in the number of things you have like you have 31 flavors of ice cream, then hit the MATH button and scroll over to the PROB option and goto to nCr and hit that, then put in the number of flavors combinations you want like 3 for 3 scoops and it will tell you how many 3 scoop combination you can have with 31 flavors.
