Here you go, by popular request, here's my photography thread. Feel free to post responses if you want :) For right now, I use a Casio Exilim, 10 MP 3.5 Optical Zoom. Maybe someday I can afford a Digital SLR. ~*dreams*~

Wow, you're shots are really good!
I used to want to get into photography, but I could never catch anything like this. Keep it up!

Great job on the pics! I 'll have to look on your site :)

I used to work with cameras at Circuit City so I know the camera you're talking about, even though i really don't have photography experience, I have atleast some camera experience. And as far as SLRs go, what exactly are you looking for? I mostly recommend the Canons but it just depends really. I hope you get one, one day!....

The lion picture is called "Snooze" Hehe.

Well, as I said to Seril in a previous post, having a good camera really helps. Something that's not in the cheap range how-ever. Something that's most likely above $100. (Mine was $175 off of Newegg). It should have certain functions but it depends on what you want to do with the photos. I would not recommend only Digital Zoom, it's yucky. Go for at least 3.0 Optical Zoom if you can. at at least photos capable of 5 MP (which will create a picture at about 1.2 MB, then you can crop it down.) As for photography, it's a lot of persperation and a bit of luck. It's more than just randomly shooting at something you see, though sometimes that works. I've never taken a photography class to be honest, but I have always liked taking pictures. I've taken a few drawing art classes however and that has helped me with composition of the photos. With the digital age you can take lots and lots and then maybe you'll get a good picture out of all the shots. :) You have to think about a lot of things when taking a picture.

For example:

1) What is the reason for taking this picture?
2) What is the message I'm trying to convey?
3) What is the air speed of a fully laiden African swallow? (Hehehe, just kidding)
4) How is the lighting? (Is it too dark, too light, some of this can be fixed in photoshop)
5) Is it tasteful?
6) Is my subject in focus? (Blurry pictures suck)
7) There are proportions to consider and some mathematical stuff that I don't really understand, I usually ignore those and then get critiqued on that. LOL. (Such as the 2/3 horizon rule)
8) Find a subject you are passionate about, or that you are pretty good at shooting. Stationary things help, things that are moving are hard to get a good picture with.

Of course, you can throw everything out with the bathwater:

Those are all awesome photos, Z. I love 'em. I shoot with a Panasonic Lumix 10x zoom (so sorry to hear you lost yours! They rock). I -think- its 10 megapixel, but these days that doesnt matter so much anymore. Any camera worth its salt will make a picture the side of a mural, lol. I got it because it has some fancy lens with a german name I cant pronounce, let alone remember. It takes pretty sweet pics too, though I'm rather impressed with your pics, Z. Love the choices in subjects.

The Panasonic cameras have some nifty functions that I liked: Image stabilzer was nice, as well as the LEICA lens which was really awesome, a $200 value for a much more inexpensive camera. I am glad you guys like what I take pictures of. :) I'll post more if you guys really want. :)
