I'm an avid researcher, and I love beginning a search on Wikipedia, only to have 20 tabs open in minutes from interesting terms I came across while working on the original research. I never know what I'm going to find. Today, I found the original "Bloody Baron" while continuing a search which started with the October Revolution.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ungern_von_Sternberg

Quote:
Baron Roman Nickolai Maximilian von Ungern-Sternberg (adopted Russian name: Роман Фёдорович Унгерн фон Штернберг, which transliterates as Roman Fyodorovich Ungern von Sternberg), also known as the Bloody Baron and the "Mad Baron" (January 22, 1886 NS – September 15, 1921) was a Baltic German-Russian Yesaul (captain), Russian hero of World War I and self-proclaimed lieutenant-general who was dictator of Mongolia from March to August 1921

A baron, a captain combining Baltic, Germanic, and Russian interests, Russian WWI hero, and Mongolian dictator. That's a heck of a list of titles for one person to accumulate. Read on, dear reader, to see what other things this "Mad Baron" was responsible for.

This is very interesting, I wonder if J.K knew about this. :D

Far as I can tell, from a very cursory search, there isn't anything online asserting that the two are connected. I'm not a fan of coincidence, and am generally a fan of conspiracy theories, though, so I'm inclined to think she knew. Seems a pretty odd thing otherwise, considering her's and his are the only two "Bloody Baron"s in the Wikipedia Disambiguation page.
