My laptop caught a bug recently, and now it's been hell to use the internet. I've ran my Webroot Antivirus about a dozen times, and while every once in a while it comes up with relatively harmless tracking devices, it hasn't really been able to fix my browser.
Okay, symptoms are:
-When I type a website into the address bar, "it" redirects me to a (seemingly) random other web page. However, entering the website once more usually works.
-Clicking on any google link redirects me to a random page, no matter how many times I try.
I'll try to post more symptoms as I come across them.
Any thoughts? Questions? Comments?

Have you tried Malwarebyte? I think it's still free. My mom's desktop had a pretty nasty virus once and that fixed it right away.

I guess this is my fault for not specifying, but I consider myself relatively tech-savvy. I'm no wizard when it comes to computers, but I can find my way around easily enough. I wouldn't have posted my problems on the forums unless I had tried everything I could think of. Rebooting my compy was one of the first steps I took. But thank you for suggesting it, I don't want to sound ungrateful. =)

HA! I'm watching Malwarebyte go through all of my files, most of which I'd forgotten about. Like Sins of a Solar Empire. I didn't even know that was still on my computer...

It does a pretty thorough job for being a free program.
I ran it specifically for the one virus and it found something like 70 infected files. Needless to say I was pretty satisfied.

Yeah, I ran Webroot right before I posted on the forums, and it came up with zip. Malwarebyte claims its already found 10 infections. o.O

Okay, not to toot my horn too early, but I think it's working!! It might have already identified the culprit, my computer isn't freaking out and sending me to other pages anymore!! This is good news, I love my laptop. I'd hate to take it out back and put it out of its misery. Which it knows I will do.
