Appearance

Standing taller and more muscular than students her age, Hester immediately comes off as headstrong, willful, and utterly unpleasant. Her hair usually looks like she cuts it herself, and she dresses liberally, with a red/black punk kilt, combat boots, and muggle band t-shirts when McGonagall's not around. When Hester speaks, she usually does so loudly, in a Mancunian dialect. She has a strong face, a slightly hawkish nose, and a look on her eyes that makes it seem like she's seconds from clocking someone for looking at her wrong. Age wise, she looks about fifteen.

Personality

Hester has always been an angry kid. Growing up, she always bullied the other wizarding kids in Manchester, and she has learned that might does make right. While she ordinarily won't bat an eyelash to make people like her, she's far softer on the inside. An upbringing of scorn by children of more pure blooded families have made traces in a girl that has a half-wizard dad, and a muggle mother. New to Hogwarts, Hester is very frustrated. Both because her fellow Gryffindors struggle to keep her in line, and because not being able to return the scorn of older students makes her feel powerless. Anyone who miraculously gets close to Hester, will probably realize she's staunchy loyal and utterly fearless, and far kinder then she seems.

Family and Relationships

Father: Mark Jones, sometime concert reviewer for the Quibbler and amateur musician.
Mother: Wendy Leigh, a Muggle woman that left the family when Hester was still very young.
Siblings: None.

Hester hails from Hattersley in Greater Manchester. Growing up in a economically poor, broken home, Hester has built up so much frustration that she's seen no other way of dealing with it than to take it out on others. She barely sees her mother, who seems scared of her daughter's magical talent, and her dad's usually away alot. Hester does love her father, though, and he's had quite an effect on her, taking her to concerts, helping her with school, and in general caring for the girl. She looks up to her father, and as a going away present when she left school, he bought her a bass guitar, a black Gibson Thunderbird; it's her most prized possession, and she spends a lot of time learning the play the darn thing.

Emily Jade Hodgkins - Although the two have been furious enemies, Hester's nurtured a grudging respect for the girl. They just made up following Hester's new relationship with Eric's brother, and Hester considers her a friend,
Logan Ainsley - Hester completely linked up with her fellow housemate immediately. The two share a dryly sarcastic humor, a certain mean streak, and go along very well.
Eric Goodrich - One of the first people she learned to respect, her senior has done his best to keep the rebellious girl in line. She's quite fond of Eric, valuing his integrity and honesty.
Evie Cromwell - Evie has beat the cr*p out of her, not holding back at all, and Hester has as a result learned to respect her.
Nevaeh Samuels - While Hester hasn't had the time to get to know her, she's made a good first impression; Nev seems not to take crap from anyone, which makes her good in Hester's book.
Tom Summers - Tom's nagged and annoyed Hester for ages, and the two have come to blows in the past. Recently, Hester seems to have eased up a lot on her hostility towards her housemate, seeming to appreciate his good-natured demeanor, surprisingly.
Ethan Jameson - He is going down. Simple as that. Hester has a clear ambition of breaking every single bone in his body.
Jackie Halenner - Strongly provoked by Hester's behavior, Jackie's already threatened to beat her up, but failed to do so. Her lack of guts, her apparent straight and conformist attitude, everything about her, makes Hester loathe her like the plague.
Nathaniel Rhomas - He's the archetype of Hester's view of Prefects. Stiff, law-abiding and conformist.

Hobbies

When she's not hanging out somewhere, or sneaking off to smoke cigarettes, Hester spends most of her time struggling hard with her schoolwork, which she detests. Being dyslexic and having a short attention span, she's having problems keeping up with school. She's learning to play her bass, which she's far more enthusiastic about. Also, she tries to keep in shape, regularly maintaining her training in kickboxing.
