In her fifth year at Hogwarts, Rowan became the female Prefect for Ravenclaw house, after Mary Maywell's promotion to Head Girl. In the classroom, she typically keeps to herself, and doesn't often make the effort to answer questions or participate in debate. Despite that, she maintains exceptional grades and has often been a resource for information for the other students. Her favourite classes are Potions, Transfiguration and Divination. Rowan spends much of her free time researching methods to combine her three passions in order to achieve unique results. With other students, she tends to avoid letting on about her feelings or her personal life. Rowan's respect for Professor Snape would be obvious to most, though few ever see them interact beyond classes. Rowan is the teaching assistant for his Potions class, and she expresses an odd combination of both humility and pride at this particular accomplishment. She has recently taken up a room in the dungeons near the Potions classroom, used for both her research and her class preparations. Lately, she spends even more of her precious free time locked up with her work.

Her wand is 13 inches and carved of ebony stained rowan wood with an Augurey tail feather core. Simplistic in design, save for a carving of a feather and the druid text for the word, "rowan".

Once, she may have had a wide and varied circle of friends and acqauintances, but over the years Rowan has found herself withdrawing from the general mass of students. If questioned about it, Rowan insists she doesn't mind the peaceful, often mistaken as broody, solitude. When passing time at her usual pillar in the Entrance Hall, there are very few who bother to enter her space, very few she will tolerate for long, and even fewer for whom she will make room next to her. She's often asked about whether or not she hates the other students. Her typical response would be something of, "No. Why would I? Oh, except for maybe Tom." She'd say this with a crooked grin, denoting an obvious playfulness. She'd turn serious and continue, "Seriously? Why waste the energy? No, I don't hate anybody."

If Rowan is seen in the company of others, she is usually reserved to only one person at any given time. These days, that would more often than not be her boyfriend, Feargus MacDale. It'd be obvious these two share a significant history, which would be known in detail by few. Being generally uncomfortable in large crowds, she keeps a few steps behind or away from the herd. Otherwise, Rowan is frequently seen alongside Lisa DeRosiers, Gryffindor Prefect. An unsuspected friendship, Rowan and Lisa would appear to have grown close through recent events.

And god help you if you are an ugly girl, course too pretty is also your doom. Cause everyone harbors a secret hatred, for the prettiest girl in the room. And god help you if you are a phoenix, and you dare to rise up from the ash. A thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy, while you are just flying back. I'm not trying to give my life meaning, by demeaning you. And I would like to state for the record, I did everything that I could do. I'm not saying that I'm a saint, I just don't want to live that way. No, I will never be a saint, but I will always say. Squint your eyes and look closer, I'm not between you and your ambition.
