Name: Barrett F. Waters

House: Slytherin

Appearance: Tall, slightly taller than average, with long blonde hair. Appears to be physically fit and muscular. His nose is disfigured and broken. Wears a red and white armband with two hammers crossing across it on his left arm. He hold's his chin up constantly, whether it be arrogance, contempt for those around him, or possibly his own feelings of self doubt. A small worn hammer hangs from his belt also.

History: Barrett comes from a long line of purebloods in Cambridge loyal to the traits and ideals of the typical Slytherin. The Waters' family herald is two hammers crossing in the form of an "X" over a half-red, half-white sphere. It is said in olden times, the Waters' were great wizards who helped fend off hateful magic hating muggles, and organized small wizarding community hamlets across England, which were enclosed by a magic enchanted brick wall isolating them from the Muggle World they built themselves. These hamlet's though have been lost to the history books. They are also said to have faught the many Goblin insurections throughout history and to have defended Britain from invading wizards.

His father, William, was a talented Legilimens for the Ministry as an Auror. Despite being from a pureblood family who despises half-breeds and mudbloods, William stayed loyal during the Voldemort's era of terror, and he even captured many Death Eaters.

Shortly before the Voldemort's fall, the Ministry sent William to Italy to pursue a pair of Death Eaters at large for stealing information from the Department of Mysteries. William caught the two in Anzio, but it turned out it was a trap setup by Death Eaters. William was then tortured, and killed by a Death Eater who had taken the animagus form of a Tiger (who is still at large even years after Voldemort's fall). Muggle authorities awoke the next morning to find countless scattered pieces of his body around the street, the largest piece being from his hand, which still bore his Serpent Ring on a finger. The ring was returned to Mrs. Waters, with a letter from the Minister of Magic, expressing his heartfelt apologies for the sacrifice made in the name of the Ministry (and was signed with what Barrett later assumed to be a cheap rubber stamp). To this day William is held as a hero among those in the wizarding community.

William's death came only a day after Mrs. Waters found out she was pregnant with Barrett. Mrs. Waters was much more liberal than her husband, although still a pureblood, did not hold the same prejudices as her deceased husband, but they still loved eachother dearly, and even came from an intelligent line of witches and wizards from the Ravenclaw house. She even constantly brags that she is a descendant of Sacharissa Tugwood, inventor of many beauty potions. Barrett was raised without his father as a consequence. His mother, due to the loss of her husband, kept Barrett on a tight leash, over protecting him and spoiling him, and yet she still found a way to ignore him most of the time. Barrett grew up in a large house in a predominantly muggle neighborhood, and his mother was head of the local Cambridge Witches Council. During one of her meetings at about ten years old before leaving for Hogwarts, Barrett left the house to avoid all the house guests.

While he was walking down the street, he entertained himself with some simple magic while holding a small stick. Some young muggle teens jumped out of the bushes to scare him, and then saw his gifted skill with magic. In fear, the stick burst into flames and caught the bush they were hiding in on fire. One of the boys clothes burst into fire and he ran down the street away from Barrett. The remaining two became very afraid of Barrett, they started to call him cruel names and started to push him asking what he just did. They dragged him into an abandonded construction site, and one shoved him against a brick wall, demanding to be told what he just did. Barrett, simply said "magic" while eyeing the boy with hatred. The boy smacked him against the head and slammed him into the wall again, telling him not to lie to him, and demanded once again what he did to the bush. The other boy went over to a pile of tools left at by the workers and grabbed a hammer, and told Barrett to tell him what he had done, with one last chance to tell the truth. This time Barrett said "Magic! You stupid filthy mudblood!" The boy holding him against the wall asked him angrily "What the hell is a mudblood you little freak?" then the other quickly swung the hammer at him, breaking his nose instantly. They threw Barrett to the ground, and then threw the hammer on his back as he lay on the ground with a bloody nose. Barrett looked up, and yelled how they will regret what they just did, and then a brick wall collapsed in front of them, enclosing them in the construction site. They looked back at Barrett, and saw that he was now standing up again, with the hammer in his hands, now in flames. Barrett struck a wooden support beam with his hammer, which caused what was built so far of the structure to collapse and burst into flames. Barrett emerged from the burning debris of the site unharmed except for his nose. He hid the hammer inside his jacket so that he would never forget this day, and because it bore the same symbol of his heritage, and walked home and went directly to bed.

The next day as he descended the stairs down to the kitchen, his mother was gossiping with some witches who were telling her about some new potion recipe. His mother didn't give him a glance as he went to grab himself some toast and marmalade. Then one of the other witches interjected into the conversation noting that the muggle "Arnold Layne Clocktower" that was under construction had collapsed and that two muggle boys were found dead. They shook their heads at the disaster, and Barrett just spread the marmalade onto his toast with a slight sick smile as his eyes narrow and a single tear flowed from his eye.

Personality: Since he has come to Hogwarts he has found he is free from his mother's restrictions (whom he hardly even talks to anymore) and has found new independence to do what he wants, even if the rules say otherwise. Somewhat arrogant. Holds the same hatred for mudbloods and halfbreeds as his father did, and is also a proud Briton. Very intelligent, although he lacks concentration. He trusts few, and see's most as either standing in his way or somebody he can possibly use to get what he wants, hardly even talking to most. He values rare physical possesions greatly, and is a collector of strange artifacts. He enjoys Card Dueling greatly, and near any sport which he can show his skills. He despises weakness and corruption. He has grand visions for himself, and seeks some position of power.

Skills and Abilities: Barrett is very talented with transiguration. He has the magical capability to turn stones laying around the grounds into loyal yet mindless beasts to do his bidding, and he is even studying into Animagus forms. He also enjoys the Dark Arts, wether it be defending against them or possibly using them. He sees the label as evil magic as misleading, as it isn't the magic itself that could possibly be evil on it's own, and it is up to the wizard to use them, as he has read from Machiavelli (a well known writer in the muggle world, but a lesser known advocate of "dark magic" in the wizarding world), he believes "The end justify the means." He also has an extensive knowledge of history, be it muggle or wizarding world, and uses it to guide him into the future. He has a strange way with beasts and animals, and is able to sense their emotions and understands many strange animals. He is poor herbology and potions, despite his mother's fixation on the two topics, and feels they are a waste of his time, and has barely acceptable marks. He hates and distrusts anything related with Muggle Studies, especially muggle energy and electricity. He even has the capability to produce a patronus, which is a large angry boar.
