Biography: Before Hogwarts
Lani’s parents, Leyla and Shakil, grew up, trained, and met in the Middle-East. Both hated living there but for a long time didn’t have the means to leave. After they married, and gained the funds they needed, they decided to immigrate to the United States and left their homeland. Both of Lani’s parents had an unsettling fascination with Muggles (her father was worse than her mother though) and their home was full of their conveniences. Things like television, a stereo and computer could all be found there and both knew full well how to use them. They even owned and drove a truck around the muggle town they lived in instead of Apparating or using the Floo Network to the nearby Wizarding Community.
When Lani was four, Leyla found out she was pregnant with twins. At first Lani was really excited and couldn’t wait for her brother and sister to arrive. That quickly changed when Damali and Samir were born. Young as she was, Lani was charged with watching over her siblings.
As Damali and Samir grew older Lani was seen more of as a baby-sitter than a daughter. By the time the twins were three, Lani learned to rely on herself. She watched the twins as instructed, but otherwise spent her time reading and trying to work a little magic here and there. Damali and Samir didn’t make it easy for Lani do find approval from their parents, the little devils would give her the slip almost daily and not return until it was well after the time they were supposed to be in bed, usually covered in mud from head to toe.
As Lani approached her eleventh birthday she started looking up the different schools for young witches and wizards. When she discovered Hogwarts Lani was thrilled and immediately approached her father about it. He agreed, as did her mother although a bit reluctantly, and so in July Lani’s letter came. Her parents decided to order her school things by owl and send her to London when it got closer to the start of term. When it came time to leave Lani was surprised to realize she would miss her brother and sister and her parents, but she was too excited to give it much thought at the time. True to their nature, her parents sent her to London by plane and she took a normal Muggle taxi to King’s Cross Station.

Biography: Before the Twins Come to Hogwarts
On the train Lani mostly read, slept, or just stared out the window. When the train came to a stop in Hogsmeade Station, Lani couldn’t help but be a bit overwhelmed. Even though her parents were magical, she had been raised almost like a Muggle-born. It was strange for her to see so many witches and wizards in one place. Hagrid came as another shock and Lani kept her head down, her shyness obvious to the other first-years in the boat. She was sorted into Ravenclaw and walked quickly to take her place at the table.
Over the next three years she worked hard, succeeding in almost all her classes (although divination came as a particular struggle for her). Slowly she came out of her shell, talking more to the older students as well as her classmates. While each time she would come back from Holiday it would take her a few days to open up again.
Towards the end of her third year Lani met Sean Asherel, an older student in Gryffindor. She was shy at first with him, but quickly warmed up. They became friends, Sean often helping her with the more difficult ingredients needed for her classwork. Lani finished third year hopeful of what might come next year.

Biography: The Twins Come to London
Lani returned to Hogwarts for her fourth year with two first years in tow. Damali and Samir had finally reached eleven years of age and had decided to come with their sister to Hogwarts instead of going to the school in America. Damali was sorted into Ravenclaw like her sister and Samir was sorted into Gryffindor. Lani askied Sean if he would keep an eye on her brother, “To make sure he doesn’t get into too much trouble,” she told him. Sean agreed and so started one of both the hardest, and best years of Lani’s young life. On one hand the classwork was harder than it had ever been and Lani found herself asking for Sean’s help more and more often. But on the other, because of that Sean and Lani were spending much more time together. Towards the end of the year Sean asked Lani out and she accepted.
The two dated happily well into Lani’s fifth year but it wouldn’t last. Events came to pass and Lani had to leave Hogwarts for a while, her mother was seriously ill and refused to go to St. Mungo's. The twins stayed at school while Lani spent a few weeks at home. The whole time she was home Lani never once thought to contact Sean and explain why she had suddenly just disappeared. When she finally came back, Sean was gone. Hurt and confused Lani decided to just put it behind her and focus on her OWL exams that were swiftly approaching.
While she was studying a certain Ravenclaw caught her attention. He seemed anti-social, cold and a bit dark but Lani felt drawn to him. So she started hanging out with him, much to his annoyance at first, and talking to him. Over the course of two or three weeks Lani chipped away at the hard mask Lucian wore. Just before her OWLs Lucian and Lani got together.
Lani received all twelve OWLs, much to her delight, and sixth year seemed a breeze to her. Now a seventh year, Lani wants to enjoy this last year at Hogwarts. She took her Apparition Test shortly after turning seventeen and can now apparate legally. She spent most of her days either with Lucian, working on her classwork, or helping Dama or Sammy with theirs.

Update: 7th Year
Lani was waiting to meet Angel at the Hog's Head with Zane Williams when Lucian comes in. Lani was angry with him for disappearing for several days and then not telling her where he went. She leaves the bar and sits at a table across the room. Shortly after that Angel comes in and Zane joins the girls at their table.
While Lani is venting her anger to Angel, Lucian grows agitated at the bar. Suddenly he jumps to his feet, knocking back the stool he had been sitting on and sweeping all the glasses off the counter in a rage. Zane, Lani and eventually Angel all get to their feet. Lani and Zane move forward to try and subdue him, Lani with her wand now drawn and pointing steadily at him. Lucian turns on Zane and turns him to stone with a wave of his wand. Lani warns Lucian to lower his wand, instead of doing so a cloud of darkness gathers around him and he vanishes. Lani flicks her wand at Zane, removing the stone casing Lucian had wrapped him in then whirls around to slam her fist into the wall and sink to the floor in tears.
Angel goes to her and tries to comfort her, after a few moments (and the arrival of John and Brennan) Lani gets to her feet and goes to the table where her drink is sitting. Finishing it she writes out a note, slipping the ring off of her left hand and folding the letter around it before handing it to her Snowy Owl to send to Lucian. To her friends she says clearly, "I won't marry someone who will attack my friends and me in a blind rage, no matter my feelings for him."

Update: 7th Year Con't
After the fiasco with Lucian, Lani vanished from the school. Only a couple days after she broke off their engagement she received an urgent letter from home and immediately left for the States, Damali and Samir joined her a few days later. Their parents had been driving into town during a bad storm and drove off the road. Shakil died on the way to the hospital and Leyla a few days later.
Lani decided to keep the twins with her during the long process of sorting out the estate, funerals, and the legal adoption of Damali and Samir. Lani continued her studies by practicing magic in the rare moments she had to herself and working on her newest project, the small origami dragon come alive, Diamond.
After nearly a year, Lani and the twins finally were able to return to Hogwarts. Lani preparing for her NEWT exams and the twins working on completing their 4th year. Lani is hardly seen around the castle anymore, only a few students have caught glimpses of her in the past few months and the sight has been known to frighten the first and second years. Her skin an unnatural pale color, her eyes drawn and forlorn, Lani looks as though she went through Hell and still hasn't quite found her resolve to fight her way back. Her robes are often torn or scorched, her arms now covered in scars of past cuts and burns that weren't treated in time.
The only places Lani might have been found were the kitchen in Hogwarts, the graveyard closest to the school, or under the cherry blossom trees in Hogsmead. Where she spent the rest of her time was a mystery even to her once close friends, she was always in the company of her little origami dragon, Diamond. However once the magic on the dragon faded and returned the creature to paper once more, Lani fell apart. She felt as though she had lost a child in a sense and mourned that loss greatly.
Once again Lani retreated to the States, continuing the guardianship of her brother and sister and schoolwork (what little of it there was) by owl. While she was at her parents' home she remodeled, changing it so that it became more to her's and the twins' style and finally packing away and selling most of the muggle items littering the house. Doing so seemed to be good for Lani because when she returned to Hogwarts her sad appearance had changed to become almost exactly as it had been before, healthy and warm. Her scars now faded to almost non-existence Lani seemed to have regained her happy nature and resumed her education at Hogwarts.

Under Construction. I'll be editing the top post over the next few days, Lani will most likely be making an appearance IG soon. I updated the last part of her Biography to explain her current appearance and absence form sight over the past few months.

I've Updated the first post but left the others, there's a good amount of Lani's history there and it's easiest to just leave it there. I'll continue editing Lani's biography over the next few days.
