<a href="#info">Information!</a>

This topic is purely a resource topic. If you want to skip this explanation(Which will be long-winded) just click one of the links above this.

There is a certain difficulty in finding good images to use for a character profile due to most images being junk, or unusable, or just difficult to use. The goal of this resource topic is to solve that (admittedly minor) issue, and provide quick and easily usable resources to everyone on the forums. The most common use (that I can foresee) would be in character biographies, but I'm certain the resources could be used in Role-Playing posts as well.

If you've ever used Google, or any other search feature, to try to find an image suitable to your needs, it becomes obvious how troublesome it can be to sift through tons of 'junk' images, which aren't what you were looking for at all. With this topic, I plan to provide links to various sources for everything from free-to-use stock photography (Which can be used to find a good representation of your character) to 'profile art' such as pointers, bars, and buttons.

<a name="Requests"></a>I will also be glad to make (or find) an image or source, if it cannot be found at one of the current resource links. Feel free to PM me requests, though please be aware that I have no idea how long it may take to find or make. Please only request if you honestly cannot find the image at one of the sources, or if the 'profile art' isn't linked to here. Custom profile art will likely take at least a day to complete, unless I run into an unexpected amount of free time.

Now that I have explained, I think, what the purpose of this topic is, I would like to caution everyone to please, read the age warnings if I took the time to put them. Not all links will always be appropriate for all ages, and I very likely will make sure that they're noted as such.

<a name="Pointers"></a>These are the 'Pointer' Images. They can also be called "bullet" images. They go under various other names, but they all serve the same purpose. Draw attention to a specific portion of your Character Biography with these!

<a name="Links"></a>I suppose if you're all the way down here, at the very bottom of this post, you're looking for the links I promised way back up at the top. Or you're just reading the entire post...But that'd make you crazy. Anyway, without further sales-pitching, here are the links!

<a href="#top">Return to the Top?</a>

#1: <a href="http://www.sxc.hu">Good Stock Site. Free, but you have to register, last I checked. [[Not for those under 17. Contains some graphic imagery.]]</a>

#2: <a href="http://www.stockvault.net">Good stock site. Free, don't need to register but they request that you do. [[Not for those under 17. Contains some mildly suggestive graphic imagery.]]</a>

<a name="info"></a>
Information time! This post will be regularly updated as I find more(or better) sites and images. I will also update it with a "Request Images" section, once someone actually requests something, and I find or make it. If you find any errors in this post, please let me know. Likewise, let me know of any of the links become broken, as I will try my best to fix them. Overall though, feel free to use these images, and have fun making your Character Biography!

If you find a site or image that you think needs added here, just PM the link to me, I'll look it over, and stick it on here with the appropriate warnings attached(If need be).

[[Note: This was mostly done for new players, who aren't as experienced in Forum Usage as some of us are. I made this topic in the hope that it would benefit them, and assist any older players as well!]]

How to add Music to Your Bio

There are numerous players that can be used, but majority of the module uses Youtube to add their music to their bio. Why add music? It adds a bit of life to the text and pictures, and further develops your character through their taste of music. But, you ask how do you do it? It is simple, and I will show you.

We will be adding a generic music song that I will be randomly choosing. We do not want the video itself, unless you really want it. But, first we need to know what command to use. We will want to use the Flash command.

The Flash command consists of a set of steps. Firstly, you need to know how to properly put it in. This is what it looks like in code form, without you adding any numbers.

Code:
[flash=width,height]http://url[/flash]

Now, you see the areas where you have to adjust it. The width is the width of the player, and then the height would be the height you want to set it at. You can change it. The common width and height for a player without video is: 425, 25.

The URL is not the one you see in the address bar of your website, but it is the embedded code that the uploader has let you use. On Youtube, it is on the right hand side of the screen, where the description of the video is, and the poster. You will have to cut out the rest, and take the URL from it. But, the URL is far too long for what is needed. This is a typical URL found in the embeded section: http://www.youtube.com/v/uUb8_DLsIyM&hl=en&fs=1&

We don't need it that long! Reduce it to the proper one: http://www.youtube.com/v/uUb8_DLsIyM&hl

All you need is for it to be up the &hl. So, then all you do is close off your code with [/fash] and you shall have your music. So, here is what it should look like:

Code:
[flash=425,25]http://www.youtube.com/v/uUb8_DLsIyM&hl[/flash]

So, you now have your code for your video, and music. So, place that in, preview it, and if done properly it should look like this:

Simple as that. Enjoy your music. And, happy posting.

Here is another tutorial on adding flash that people seem to miss with other BBcode resources as well.

Heres a "tab key" trick:

transparent image so that one can insert an indentation:

You can also use:

    List to accomplish the same indenting.

    And this way, we won't have broken images if the link to that blank pixel spacer image ever changes or disappears. Of course, this indents the entire paragraph. You can use double spacing between paragraphs in place of indenting initial lines, though.

    The rule is to use one or the other, indentation or the extra line space. You don't need both.

Another thingie, just incase people don't know yet!

Code:
[extimg=number,number,rightorleft]image url[/extimg]

This makes your pictures align to the left or right. :>
