Shana Lyonsbane 1st year Hufflepuff
She was shaking in the bed. Shaking and couldn't stop. They had tried to give her some tea, some sort of foul concoction she could barely get down. She was sure it was some magical something, but it did't seem to work. If anything, it just seemed to make her more edgy.
What was THAT?!?! she kept thinking. All she had wanted to do was clean herself up. It was a lavatory for goodness sake! But the the...the.....THING!
She buried her face in her hands. Bad enough she had arrived late. Who could blame her? The list was SO long. She had triple checked it, then forgotten one item, then tripped over a cobblestone and dropped EVERYTHING!
But the headmistress didn't understand. Didn't understand that Shanedidn't know what she was doing or barely where she was. That she wasn't even sure if she could really do magic. Or really what the hat meant by Hufflepuff.
It was too much. And the headmistress had told her sternly...god, that face that set Shane's blood ice cold....that she needed to go rest and that she could catch up with her classmates. Catch up!?!? She was already behind?!?! She sniffled, holding back tears.
She should have listened. She should have just stayed in her room and slept. But no. She just had to go out and explore. See the castle. Go find the library. That should be interesting, right?
It had seemed like a good idea. Show the headmistress she had....what was the word.....initiative? That she wasn't stupid. She could picture the door to the girls lavatory on the fourth floor. Opening it. Stepping inside. Seeing the sink.
And then....the thing. Giant. Ogre? She heard someone mention troll? She sniffled again. It didn't matter. She tensed as she saw its huge hand coming down to strike her as she backed up against the door, scared stiff. And then....darkness.
Someone had probably heard her scream and helped her. And now she was here in the hospital bed. She sniffled and suddenly the tears couldn't be stopped. What was going to be worse, the thing or the headmistress? Or having to face her classmates that she hadn't even met yet? She rocked back and forth in the bed, thinking how badly she wanted to be home.
