Nikolay Dmitriev joined Ivan Kuskov with twenty-four other Russians and eighty Native Alaskans to establish Fortress Ross. Nikolas was never heard from again. Dmetriev family suspicious of New World.
1910:
Sascha Dmitriev marries Svetlana Ivanov. Resulting children were half-bloods. Unexplained Muggle disappearances occur.
1930:
To avoid famine and being persecuted for being "kulaks", wards were placed over the Dmitriev family's farm and cottage on the Volga river. Unexplained Muggle disappearances cease.
1979:
Sergei reconstructs old Dmitriev family ship, complete with cannons and all. Rumors spread of "ghost pirates" being seen going up and down the Volga River. Various Muggle ships go missing around the same time.
To this day, the Dmitrievs are still suspicious of the Americas and have various prejudices associated with Americans and America.

Sergei attended Durmstrang, and so did his son, Alexey. Denis, Artur, and Roman were all ready to go to leave their homes to go to Durmstrang with Vladimir on his eleventh birthday. They were all already enrolled in Durmstrang, and were simply visiting for the summer. The acceptance letter arrived, but it wasn't from Durmstrang!
Sergei was distraught and disappointed that Vlad wouldn't be going to Durmstrang with his brothers. Denis, Artur, and Roman all decided to tease Vlad about going to the school for weaklings. Anna and Alexey didn't mind that much. Anna was simply glad that Vlad wasn't a squib; Alexey, on the other hand, loves Scotland, and was enthusiastic to send his youngest son to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
