Physical description
This teen stands at about 5'6", after a final surprise growth spurt was completed. He's quite skinny, his features slender and delicate. His skin is pale, his eyes are light blue, and his light blonde hair is cut short in a simple style. He speaks with a Scottish accent.
He wears two silver curved barbell piercings in his right eyebrow, spaced about 1 cm apart and positioned just right of center over his eye.
Currently, his hair is bright blue.
Personality
Sam is usually quiet or even nervously standoffish in large groups, and often is considered a loner. But those who get to know him on his own terms are rewarded with a surprisingly articulate and loyal friend.
Early life
Sam usually refuses to discuss any details of his life before Hogwarts beyond the fact that his parents are muggles and that they live in Scotland.
Life at Hogwarts
Upon arrival at Hogwarts, Sam was quickly sorted into Ravenclaw house. He enjoyed the private rooms and studious atmosphere of that house, his studies thriving even as his social life faltered. Slowly, but surely, he found a small network of friends among his classmates. But even as he opened up to them in some ways, he always held a bit of himself back, as if unsure how the entire friendship thing worked.
He's often seen spending time with fellow Ravenclaws Jade Celine and Peran Wricken, though a curious rapport has sprung up between disturbingly strange Gryffindor student Hellewise Blackwing and the quiet Ravenclaw.
During his fourth year, he also started spending time with fellow Ravenclaw Ruoy Trams, with some students even whispering that they should be a couple. They grew even closer as the year went on, with their status as boyfriend and girlfriend simply assumed among other students, regardless of confirmation from either of the pair. Apparently, such a thing was not to be, as they've rarely been seen in each other's company since the holidays.
A brief romantic engagement with his long-time friend Hellewise Blackwing came to a halt at the start of his sixth year, due to conflicts in their class schedules. The two have pledged to remain close friends, however, and their post-breakup relationship seems to be significantly less rocky than that of Sam and Ruoy, which continues to be a frustrating obstacle. Lately, he's been dating Slytherin prefect Ronni Malle, though they seem to be suffering from a lack of time to see each other out of class.
