Name: Madeline Ingleman Nickname(s): Maddie Birthday: She claims not to have one Blood: Unknown Year: 1 House: Hufflepuff Languages: English, Russian(written better than spoken, but she can get by either way) Height: 4'9" Build: Average, still with a bit of her baby fat on her frame and face Skin: Pale Hair: Dirty blonde, usually worn in a simple chin-length bob, often brushed forward to conceal the right side of her face Eyes: Light blue Personality: Almost always polite, bubbly, and confident in others - less so in herself. However, if she's ignored or pushed in a way she strongly dislikes, she will dig in her feet and become stubborn and immovable, even shouting to make her displeasure with how she's being treated clear. Her most distinguishing feature is a reddish birthmark covering much of her right cheek and eye, up to her brow. She usually wears her hair(without bangs) combed down to cover the right side of her face, concealing the mark, though when reading or doing certain other activities she is forced to tuck the hair behind her ear, or otherwise clip it out of the way. She speaks with a mild London accent. Before Hogwarts Little is known or shared by Madeline about her life prior to coming to Hogwarts. She has mentioned Little Lambs, presumably the muggle orphanage where she grew up, as well as Miss Susan and Mister Mike, likely a witch and wizard who acted as guardians or counselors of some sort for her after her introduction to the magical world. If questioned, she simply and cheerfully states that she knows no parents, claims no birthday, and hasn't the slightest clue what her blood status might be, but she's a witch now, so what's it even matter? First Year She has settled well into Hogwarts so far. She gets along easily and seems to like most of the other students, even Gargoyle Lance Silverston, who she has been heard to defend, calling him "nice," much to the confusion of her classmates. She has shown an aversion to Slytherin student Engelbrecht Becker, claiming that he's "rude", though she mainly manifests this through avoiding him in the halls. Her BFF is obviously Nira Courlana, the two firsties often being spotted giggling together in the halls, or working on a bit of tricky homework as partners. In her downtime, she can be seen curled up on the couch with one of her many books, or at a desk writing a letter to her pen pal. Not everything has been sunshine and roses, however. Her dorm-mates in Hufflepuff complain that she occasionally suffers from bad nightmares that cause her to wake screaming, dragging the rest of the dormitory into wakefulness alongside her. If questioned about these, she'd say that she's "okay", but it's obvious that, whenever they occur, she doesn't go back to sleep again that night, remaining awake behind her bed hangings with her wand lit to ward off the scary darkness. She also suffers from a severe fear of water, specifically standing water of any significant depth - the shower is fine, as is the sink, but a full bathtub, pool, or the lake is enough to trigger the phobia. Students who frequently encounter her in the halls, or share classes with her, would be aware that she slips off to the Hospital Wing every Friday morning, usually immediately after breakfast before the first class. If questioned about this, she'd offer a cheerful, if somewhat useless, explanation that she's fine, she's just going for a "check-up." These visits seem to last only a few minutes, as she always turns up to class on time. Flying Class She suffers from the usual difficulties in handling a broomstick, especially those typical of muggleborn students who have never been on one before, but learns quickly. She has taken on the role of the class cheerleader, especially making sure to clap and cheer for the students who take the longest to master each exercise, long after the rest of the class has moved on to the next thing. Astronomy ((Yeah, as soon as I rp it...)) Charms She enjoys charms, seeming to have both a natural ability and the interest in the subject. She gets along with well with the professor, too, matching his enthusiasm every time. Defense Against the Dark Arts Easily her worst subject, she struggles with practical casting and theoretical study alike. Herbology She seems to have a lot of fun in "gardening" class, preferring taking care of sprouted plants to the (in comparison) unrewarding work of waiting for them to sprout. History of Magic She throws herself entirely into the study of certain aspects of history(historical figures, mostly) while seeming utterly bored by most others. Her grades in the class fluctuate wildly, as would be expected with this sort of inconsistent study. Potions She seems to have a natural talent for potions, but has difficulties in class following the recipes in the book. Her classmates frequently hear her complain that it's difficult to follow when the instructions are only words, and that she wishes the book had pictures for instructions instead. Transfiguration She is a fair transfiguration student, taking the subject seriously, but not as enthusiastically as those who count it among their favorites. "It's alright." |

Her fellow Hufflepuffs would be familiar with her sleeping area in the dormitory, always overflowing with stuff. It's not that she's particularly messy, she just has so many favorite things that she's run out of places to put them! Notable decorations include a poster of what appears to be a group of some kind of angels, sitting around a table, with some Japanese text on it. A library of books, some crisp and new and some very much loved, has taken over almost every surface - her bedside table, atop her trunk, on her bed, under her bed, in her bed...it's a wonder that there's space for the girl to even sleep! Titles and series currently in the collection include: Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgomery The Blue Fairy Book - Andrew Lang The Chronicles of Narnia series(books 1-6 only) - C.S. Lewis The Circle of Magic series - Tamora Pierce The Circle Opens series - Tamora Pierce Coraline - Neil Gaiman The Dark is Rising series(books 1 and 2 only) - Susan Cooper Ella Enchanted - Gail Carson Levine His Dark Materials(book 1 only) - Philip Pullman The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien The Neverending Story - Michael Ende Redwall - Brian Jacques The Tales of Beedle the Bard - Beedle the Bard The Young Wizards series(book 1 only) - Diane Duane |

Apparently she got a couple more books in the mail, or forgot about them when I originally compiled the list, or something. Also, added stuff for herbology and transfiguration. |
