When rereading book 7 I noticed that although the taboo on Voldemort's name was already in place as Harry, Ron and Hermione nearly got caught on Tottenham Court Rd, they said it several times in Grimmauld Place with no repercussions.
I thought at first that it was because of the enchantments on the place that it didn't matter but there were the same enchantments on the Burrow when it replaced Grimmauld Place as the headquarters yet the Death Eaters managed to break in there after they had taken over the Ministry and break all protective spells. Also there were enchantments on the tent they were in when they accidentally spoke the name and got picked up by the Snatchers.
Anyone got any theories why speaking the name didn't alert the Death Eaters while they were in Grimmauld Place?

They were protected by the Fidelius Charm. A spell that Hermoine is
neither skilled enough, nor competent enough, to make use of. Especially
so casually, with so little preperation, on a tent.

I think it's a rather complicated spell. So it might take a while to properly finish, choose secret keeper and all that. Besides, I think it's a stationary spell. Just my oppinion of course, but everone'e intitled to theirs anyway.
But yeah, it'd be too much work to cast it every .. week? How often did they move around? I forget.
And besides, if it was that easy, wouldn't everyone just cast it?

But wasn't the Weasley's house protected by the Fidelius Charm once it became the new headquarters? And the Death Eaters still managed to get in there when the Ministry fell because they could now break through protective charms.

The ministry was the one who used the charm on the burrow, thats why it was lifted when it fell.

But it says using his name breaks protective enchantments and causes some kind of magical disturbance because the name was jinxed.
The Death Eaters managed to break into every other Order related house searching for Harry. Lupin said they got through all the protective charms they'd cast against them.

Maybe because it was the order and not Dumbledore that cast them they were easier to break, after all dumbledore did use the elder wand to do it.
