Just reading the new Quibbler article about McGonagall's escape from Azkaban I realised that I'm woefully ignorant of things that my character should probably know. As far as I knew, for example, McGonagall was still teaching Transfiguration and I only recently learned that Dumbledore had gone. So who exactly are the current staff at Hogwarts and for what subjects? And what would we know about what happened to the others? |

Reading back articles of The Daily Prophet here on these forums will help catch you up. You might start about here. |

Assuming I'm up to date myself (I had Mary refer to McGonagall as the headmistress after she had been sacked, embarassingly enough), here's the short version. *Dumbledore resigned, left school. *McGonagall arrested under Lycantrophy suspicion. *Severus Snape is Headmaster. *Mad-Eye Moody has taken over as Head of House for Gryffindor after McGonagall. Aside from those changes, you can assume that any teacher (by book canon) ever teaching a subject is teaching it now. That means a whole lot of DADA teachers, two potions teachers (assuming Snape is still doing it; if not, that leaves only Slughorn). I'm not sure who teaches Transfiguration; that's my only real loose end here. |

Just one more question; regarding book canon whereabouts are we? Obviously not at the end or several people wouldn't still be alive. |

Aleksanteri Talonen is teaching Transfiguration. We take our setting from the books, but we try to leave the books' plot and main characters out of our way as much as possible. And though the year is current, we gloss overlook the implications that might have on NPCs' ages. |

So it's like Hogwarts if Harry didn't exist? Does Voldemort still exist? |

Supposedly, yes, but he's "Out there, too tired to go on". Death Eaters have made an appearance or two on the server, though, as far as I know. |

Tsunami is basically correct on the overview, with JB's addition, as well as Lupin also having vanished. Other than what PCs have witnessed IG there is no explanation for this. |
