First of all HELLO ! I'm Jerrod / Jerry, you can call me with either, I've been hopping in and out of the server often enough for some years, but now I actually think I'll stay. So... Hey all ! Of course I already ran into a problem, and here goes: I have scouted through most of the forums and not found anything to help with this thing. I don't understand... HOW does this work actually? I have completed -everything- in my curriculum, but from no where am I getting any help in who should I dump the stuff to/Who will recognize the progress to second year etc. Closest thing to help that I have found is "there's a skip token in OOC" but does that also mean my character will stay as level 1, if I grab it ? Is there an NPC whom I should talk now that I'm done with the homeworks ? Only thing Madam Pince does is refer to the book with that OOC token knowledge. I don't understand, please help. |

You can get "end of year" tokens from the afk/ooc room(go through the door into the shop area, they're in barrels), and take that and your curriculum work up to Pince in the library. She'll advance you a year, moving your level cap up by 2. AS A SUPER AWESOME FUN BONUS, you'll also get FREE LEVELS until you're the minimum level for that year! |

Do note that there is a new curriculum that currently is not finished for any year beyond 1st, so don't expect there to be any IC way of advancing in year. |

Roleplaying is IC. The mechanics may not be in, but you can still RP learning skills and picking up tricks and going to classes. |

But you can't actually learn new spells. |

Well it's a little bit tricky... I play in Euro times, around daytime here, which means APPARENTLY that I am alone most of the time. Roleplaying alone is a pretty admirable demonstration of dedication... but pointless. So what CAN I actually do ? I can't seem to research anything new in the library, I can't make my own potions... Seriously, nothing There's not anything to kill either And most shops are empty too. So, what is there to do when you're alone ? Anybody got some tips ? |

You could start a fun RP group (study group, duelling group, whatever group) and organize a time (OOCly) to meet (ICly) so that it assures there are going to be a number of people who show up! You can explore the server! Roleplaying with yourself is fun, though after awhile I can understand where it'd get dull. But! You could start a journal or story for your character and post his daily life/thoughts/interactions in the "Roleplay" section of the forums. Because of time differences it may make it difficult for you to get much DM interaction, but you could send one of us (orange/red names on the forum) a PM if you want particular roleplay with a certain teacher for whatever and I'm certain one of us will be able to meet up with you IG. I'd aim for Badger since he probably lives near your time zone! Like RagunCajun said, the mechanics of yearing up are OOC (right now). You can still roleplay all of second year, third, and so on before grabbing tokens. Most roleplay on the server right now is social interactions with other players. Keep an eye open for when people are on! WoHP is fairly boundless as far as possibilities. It's just a matter of where your character decides to go! Most of this is likely going to be through self-roleplay development, too. Charity wrote: But you can't actually learn new spells. Sure you can! I haven't yeared up in many years, so forgive me for covering both of these bases! I just want to make sure we're on the same page. For NwN Spells: You can, ICly, approach players and have them teach you NwN spells ICly. Most people get around naming conventions by coming up with something pseudo-Latin sounding (Magic Missilio, lol) or just write *Casts [Magic Missiles]* to indicate that the name IC isn't Magic Missile. We recommend several hours of RP per spell, to a day per spell, depending on your partner's IC aptitude (and your own for teaching). Once the spell has been thoroughly roleplayed (use your best judgement) you can grab a scroll from Knockturn Alley, have the teacher cast their spell on that scroll and then pass it back. Now you have a new spell! For scrolls (DMs! Correct me if there's an easier way): Say Drusilla doesn't know Cheerio, so she goes and grabs Seril, he teaches her it. You can either turn your logs on to document it, take screenshots, or request DM supervision if one of us is on. Once we feel it has adequately been learned, we'll grant you that scroll. Some will be much easier than others. In fact, some will be near impossible. But, anyway, that's a tale for another time! |

What about hashtags and player-tagging? No, no, please shoot me now. Let's not turn this into Facebook. Instead, just give it your seal of approval! |
