I was wondering if anyone else was interested in starting a group of related chars (relatives, friends etc.) at the moment?

I always find it easier to settle in with a char if they aren't all alone when I start them and was wondering if anyone else was in the same position.

I fully support this idea, infact I have a character that I just made who would be perfect for this.

As someone who played a fourth year for like 8 months or so and just recently bumped her up, I personally think this isn't quite the case in a couple ways. There are many RP opportunites for a younger character, among characters of both low and high years. Sometimes they're a little more difficult to find, admittedly, but I've always been a supporter of the fact that they can shine just as brightly as their older counterparts. I also played a character before who was rushed to seventh year as fast as possible, and... well, that didn't work out when RP slowed down.

However, it's unfortunate, but there are indeed OOC things pushing the year-up at the current time. Twice now has my character been restricted from learning spells that, for all IC intents and purposes, were completely possible to her, with no real excuse except "the script won't allow it, she's too young." Not powerful curses, just harmless RP enhancing charms both times. There are also certain item restrictions that can make RP almost nonsensical on rare occasions, as was posted some time ago.
Granted, it was a time when the server was a bit more battle oriented, but it's still somewhat relevant. viewtopic.php?f=33&t=4057

But I hope that doesn't stop anyone from starting up a group like this and I wish everyone the best of luck. Might even consider joining with a new alt, too!

Hahaha good one . Come to think of it, the name does sound like a magic type name. But anyway, I'm going into filmmaking in college so I created this character for a certain franchise, just figured I would create him on the server.

When exactly were we supposed to start doing this? I thought this idea was only going on since 2010 but then I saw that it's been going on since 2009, so it's already been 3 years and 2012 is already 7 months over half a year gone.

I think this group already went. Most of the players on that list I don't even think play actively anymore. That was what I was hinting at when I made that joke about thread necromancy. While a few of the characters might still be played, I think the idea of yearing up together is pretty much gone at this point.
There was an attempt last year, but curriculum was slow in updating and people kind of wandered off.

Yeah, I joined the most recent yearing up group, but then the curriculum died and there was no homework etc. to do together and no idea at all when we would even be able to get to second year, so it kind of died. At least I haven't heard anything in ages.
