There will be a potions class tonight 3/21 at approximately 8 pm server time, a bit under 4 hours from the time of this post. This class will be oocly mandatory, meaning that if you are online and your character is enrolled in potions it is considered ICly skipping if you do not attend. As with all DM classes, it's encouraged to either re-log to a student who is enrolled or find a reason for your character to tag along - nobody will be turned away! Care of Magical Creatures students in particular might have heard Hagrid mention earlier that something pretty cool was planned for the potions lab later, if that helps. Yields: 4 standard doses Ingredients 16 ounces water 3 drops essence of belladonna 3 daisy leaves, finely diced 1 ounce nettles, dried and crushed to a fine powder 1 medium piece maple bark, whole 1/2 ounce knotgrass, untangled 6 mistletoe berries, crushed to obtain juice sample of hair, scale, skin or feather from the creature whose voice you wish to take 1. Bring water and three drops of essence of belladonna to a boil over a hot fire. ((ROLL POTIONS: STEP 2)) 2. While waiting for the potion to come to a boil, prepare the rest of your ingredients. ((ROLL POTIONS: STEP 3)) 3. Reduce to medium heat to maintain a gentle simmer and add the maple bark and knotgrass. ((ROLL HERBOLOGY: STEP 4)) 4. Stir counterclockwise slowly until potion reaches the rosy hue of a perfectly ripe puffapod. ((ROLL POTIONS: STEP 5)) 5. Add daisy leaves and nettles, continuing to stir counterclockwise until all ingredients save for the maple bark have dissolved, the liquid has reached roughly half its original volume and has taken on a pale golden hue. ((ROLL POTIONS: STEP 6)) 6. Carefully discard the maple bark. Add the mistletoe berry juice, discarding any solid remainder, and your creature reagent before removing the potion from heat. When the potion has cooled, it is ready. |

There will be an event TOMORROW night(TOMORROW, Ree, not tonight!). I'd like to start getting it off the ground a bit earlier than usual, around 7:30 PM server time. You'll get the best experience if you're there from the start, as I can't guarantee that late arrivals will be able to begin RP immediately - they might have to wait a few minutes until they can join the group. I'm announcing this early because of the earlier start time and also because I'd like everybody to start thinking about something for the characters they intend to bring. How does that character dream? What do they usually dream about, do they have recurring dreams, do they have nightmares? Do they dream lucidly, in black and white or color, in english or in a different mother tongue? Do they feel pain in their dreams? I'll be asking for some of this information tomorrow before the event starts, so just turn it over in your head a bit for now. |

There will be an OOCly-mandatory ancient runes class tonight 4/18 at 8 PM server time, about 4 hours from now. If your character is enrolled in ancient runes, and you are online, you must attend class, otherwise it's considered ICly skipping class. If your character is not enrolled in ancient runes, it's recommended you log in on an alt or find a reason for your character to come as a guest. Reasons specific to this class include: it's recommended for students interested in DADA, and Herbology students might have heard about it exploring a rare application of Herbology in the study of Runes. EDIT: Class will be postponed until some other night, due to tonight being bad for people. Will try to do something small but fun to make up for it! |

(I hope) there will be a Charms class tonight Wed 6/24 at approximately 11 pm EST(8 pm server time), open to students of all years. History of Magic and Muggle studies NEWT students who are not enrolled in Charms(I think that set contains exactly 0 students on this server, but just in case!) may have heard their professors recommend that this class may be of interest to them. |

The start of term feast and house cup award will take place on Saturday 9/5. By popular request, train RP will be included. Events around Diagon and on platform 9 3/4 will begin around 7 pm server time, and the Hogwarts Express will leave promptly at 8 pm server time. Remember that the usual RP is a short break, but not necessarily a year up(unless you want to), so you'll be saying hello to a few friends - feel free to jump into that instead of waiting for a possession or the train whistle! |
