To Role Play with us, you need the following:
  • (required) Neverwinter Nights 1 (NWN), including both expansions. NWN Platinum and Diamond editions have both expansions pre-installed.
  • (required) NWN Patch to version 1.69
  • (required) Community Expansion Pack (CEP) version 2.62
  • (optional) Portrait Pack
  • Please see this special note for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users

Neverwinter Nights 1 (required)
Role play on WoHP requires Neverwinter Nights 1 (NOT 2) and both expansion packs. The Diamond Edition and the Platinum Edition come with both expansions.
Purchase NWN from one of these locations:
NWN Diamond instant download from GOG ($10 - Cheapest, but you will need to spend time with tech support to get your CD Key)
NWN Diamond box purchase from Amazon ($30)
NWN Platinum box purchase from Amazon ($30)
(Linux link coming soon)

1.69 Patch (required)
After installing NWN, patch NWN to 1.69. This can be done using the "Update" button when BioWare's site is back up, but in the mean time I have provided the 1.69 Critical Rebuld patch due to the fact that Bioware's site is down. I will provide Linux and Mac patches when I get a hold of them.

Windows: NWN 1.69 Critical Rebuild Patch (Please see this special note for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users)

CEP 2.62 (required)
CEP 2.62: Download the first file, called "cep_2_62_full.7z", and unzip the entire thing into your NWN folder:

You can download the latest CEP HERE.

Portrait Pack (optional)
Our custom portrait pack provides pictures in-game of what the various player characters look like.
The portrait pack may be found here.

Connect to our server!
(Please note that account creation is not functioning properly while BioWare's site is down)
  • Start the game.
  • Go to Multiplayer, and create an account.
  • Join an Internet game.
  • Direct Connect to: server.wohp.net

Please make sure to update your CEP to CEP 2.4. Link is above.

Also added a few new links.

Calan,
For some reason when trying to download the NwN 1.69 Critical Rebuild Patch it claims that the file is corrupt despite numerous attempts of downloading and installs. It may just be my side, but if anyone else is experiencing similar encounters they may try using this link instead:

I'd like to offer a warning to those viewing the forums and considering the direct download from GOG. While it functions, I've had various issues with it.

-The game crashes upon start up if any other applications are currently running.
-Despite attempting to get the game to run in windowed mode, it simply refuses.
-Your copy from GOG will come with a generic set of CD keys with which it is impossible to connect for online play. You will have to request a set of unique CD keys for each game; It took three weeks for GOG to supply me with my set of unique CD keys.

The first two issues may very well be quirks with my system that you won't need to deal with, but everyone I know who purchased their game from GOG had to deal with the CD key issue.

Windowed mode beds you to set a variable in the nwn.ini file. Or maybe it was nwnplayer.ini...

As far as the cd keys, if that's the case I will probably remove the link. Someone else had bought it from GOG and hadn't reported that... anyone else? If that is what they are doing, I can't see how that's legal.

I don't know what the deal is with the first problem, I haven't had that issue on any machines I've installed it on. I did have the CD key issue, but it was very minor, not at all like how you described. Because of the way their distribution is set up(I don't know the specifics of why), every copy sold has the same CD key at installation. You need to contact their customer support(and this is stated on the website) if you want to play online, and they'll send you a unique CD key manually. It took about 24 hours for mine to get here. I'm not sure exactly why they don't e-mail it out with purchase automatically like other companies do, I think it might have to do with their multiple installations license policy, and technical issues relating to that...but I'm still not sure why the initial CD key wasn't unique. But I had no issues requesting one, and it certainly didn't take three weeks to arrive.

It seems that some computers have trouble accessing the Neverwinter Vault. The download links here should still work though, but if anyone notice problems, please report and a solution will be found/posted.

It sounds like it did not complete extraction before you started NWN. You may need to re-extract the files.

Did you at least go into your hak folder and verify it's actually there, first?

I guess I'll delete and try again.

Update : Downloaded again, extracted again, same problem.

Update: Okay screw this uninstalling everything including NWN and re-installing.
