Post subject:  NWN Version 1.69 and CEP 2.1

According to the Bioware forums, the final NWN patch to 1.69 is going to be released soon, and it's huge.

It is important that if you want to continue playing on WoHP, you need to -not- update your copy of Neverwinter Nights until after I have had the chance to update the server itself, as well as the module. I will do this as fast as I can once the patch is released, but still it may be a couple days or more.

1.69 Beta 9 is almost 400MB. Please don't download this huge patch only to have to revert to continue playing. Once you try to log into the server and it says that the server is running 1.69, then you will need to update to continue playing. If you are on a slow connection, I suggest downloading the manual update in advance on your own time as soon as it is released, and simply not running it until the server is updated.

If there are any questions, please feel free to discuss.

JB has pointed out that it is likely that the Macintosh and Linux updates are probably going to lag behind the update for windows. Along with possible conflicts with CEP2, it is entirely possible that it will be a while after the official 1.69 is released before the server will be updated.

Again this is just to warn you not to update your NWN until you know that the server has been updated.

If you have more than one CPU on your PC, then you can use this setting to make the toolset run on only one of the CPUs by specifying the number of the CPU (0-31). Setting "CPU Affinity=-1" will turn off CPU affinity (default 0).

Just an update on this: CEP 2.1 has been released and NWN 1.69 is in beta 10 now. CEP 2.1 requires 1.69 so the module will not be updated to CEP 2.1 until 1.69 is officially released.

I have not downloaded CEP 2.1, but I believe that it is backwards compatible with 2.0. That is to say that if you want to get a head start on downloading, I don't think it's a problem to go ahead and download 2.1 so that you are ready for the update when it happens. Still, I'll give plenty of advance warning.

Remember that NWN 1.69 is -not- like CEP 2.1 in this respect. When 1.69 comes out officially, -do not- upgrade until I have a chance to update the server. That won't happen until the Mac version, and obviously the Linux version, are released. DO NOT update to 1.69 until the server is updated or you won't be able to log in. *hopes that's clear* :P

If you do update, go to bioware's site. You can download a patch to uninstall 1.69 and revert back to 1.68.

It appears that both the Windows and Linux versions are out, unfortunately the Macintosh version is not out yet. The server will not be updated until the Macintosh version is out, as we have players that use Mac's.

If you find yourself unable to play because you updated, please run the revert patch which can be found here:

Question, what about all our foreign players? According to the Bioware website. It appears the foreign releases are still in beta. Well, all I saw was 1.68 across the board for all foreign patch releases. *shrugs*

*asks* Does anyone use a copy of NWN with one of the other country languages?

Alright, we'll wait for the Macintosh version either way.

A note about CEP2.1:

Please go ahead with this download and installation. Installing CEP 2.1 will not hurt your ability to play on the server, so please go ahead with it, that way once we update the module to NWN1.69/CEP2.1 that part will already be done.

CEP 2.1 can be found here:
