Psh, my schoolday involves creating a game where you rip your opponents apart using time-atering powers and a whole arsenal of weapons! Wouldn't want to miss it for the world! ^^

We lost Internet access earlier tonight. It was the ISP. When Internet came back up, I could not access the server computer on the LAN. I rebooted the server computer just in case, and still could not access it. The server computer's monitor is my TV, which we had lost the remote to, so as of that point I still had not actually seen what was on the screen. Finally I got the TV turned on and saw that the computer was locked up on the POST screen. It said: Code: <This is a Blah blah blah motherboard> ENERGY STAR
CPU Type: Intel <whatever> Quad Core 2.5 GHz
Memory T And that's it.. Rebooting kept crashing at the "Memory T". I wouldn't even finish writing out "Test." So... I took out one of the memory modules, and sure enough, looks like a memory module was blown. So it started booting... Code: Grub Version 1.5...
Error 21 What's Error 21? I looked it up. It's a "serious" failure of some sort, "Cannot boot for unknown reason." So... looks like I have a hard drive failure too. Or maybe it's the motherboard. I'm not sure. Either way, the server computer is F'd. Unfortunately, I may not have the time or funds to fix it. So... I have restored the latest backup (from earlier this morning) to the test server and we are running from the test server now. Please understand that for now, this is considered a temporary solution. The server may revert back to the way things were, if I can find the time and/or money to fix the main server computer. This means that changes to your character may not save.The test server is listed as "Harry Potter Backup Server" in the server list. Direct Connect and IP and all that should be the same. You may find that some of your old characters that had been removed from your vault have reappeared. This should only be the case for as long as the test server is the server. If this ends up being more permanent then I'll do something about it later on.

Progress is being made on the main server computer. I got the hard drive issue worked out, and we can live with only one memory module for now. I may take this opportunity to do an OS upgrade. Please feel free to RP on the backup server, but please understand that changes made to your character will revert to yesterday when we go back to the main server. That will probably happen tonight or tomorrow.

Ok, I admit it, it was Gretta's doing. I told her not to mess with the fruit in the portrait. She kept 'annoying' the orange until he couldn't take it any more and blew up (had a brain fart) which took out the world as we know it due to an overload of O.J. :p

I skipped the OS update for now. Mostly because this just gets stranger...
Memory test showed nothing wrong with the memory. And the hard drives and motherboard are fine. Sooooo.... yeah, everything's back to normal.
I think Liss and Karen overloaded the server. Yeah, that's what happened.

What about the video card? Could it have anything to do with the crash? Overheat perhaps?

Nope. The memory module I think was dust related. The hard drive was related to thee computer trying to boot from the wrong one.

The plan is we move Thursday. So in theory, tonight is the final night the server will be up for a few days. I expect at least two days down time while we move, and since Christmas is right around the corner there may be a delay getting internet put in at our new place. Then again, it may be back up sooner than we expect.
So have fun tonight before the down time! Server will go down early tomorrow morning.
