Theory of Mind The ability to perceive the thoughts, desires, or emotions of others, including that of oneself -- the ability to perceive the world through the mind of others. One who is well versed in their own theory of mind, may find it easier to recognise the state of others. This may be likened to a sort of empathy, therefore, those who may exhibit the traits of an empath, would be more successful in identifying the state of others, but may still have difficulty identifying and expressing their own. Theory of mind may be comprised of several components, those of which I will discuss in further detail.
Truth One must recognise that what may seem simple truth to themselves, may very well be the opposite to another. We build truths upon lessons learned. Result which loops in a state of constancy may, for certain individuals, become their truth. However, approached in a different light, by a different individual, such truth may be false. Therefore, something to ponder: Does any sort of real truth actually exist? In this, truth and honesty are separate ideals. One can only be honest about what they believe to be true.
Person "A" is raised believing an apple is an orange. Person "B" enlightens Person "A", that his 'orange' is actually an apple. Who, in this conversation, speaks truth? Using the theory that truth itself does not exist, but rather, is created through loops of constancy, both Person "A" and Person "B" are, in fact, correct. Call it apple, or call it orange, the taste is the same to both parties. The smell, the same. Zane's robes are purple.

To see that which is not plainly there to be seen, one must learn to see truth in all forms. To see truth, one must learn to lie. And to lie, well... that's my secret, book. How does one help a friend, then, who lacks the ability to see beyond his own truth? Who lacks the ability to open his mind beyond what is plainly there for him to see? The answer: You don't. Sad though, isn't it? Perhaps, or... perhaps not. But still, I need him. Emotionally? No, no. Don't be silly, book. There is but only one set of keys to the true nature of my soul. Have I been careless in who I've chosen to release them to? It would be foolish of me to say no. Though, it would be callous of me to say yes. Maybe, then? Yes, maybe. There is sill so much I don't know...
Either way, I love him.

How fascinating a taste of sadness can be, book. For now, it is much easier to pretend.

It worked. But now, the price. Either way, "PDK" has come to an end. I've the confirmation I needed. I've no more need to keep up, for the rest is both above and beyond me. I've what I wanted, and that is all that matters, isn't it, book?

Coincidence A chance occurrence of events remarkable either for being simultaneous or for apparently being connected.
"Coincidence is the word we use when we can't see the levers and pulleys."

What IS it with people kidnapping me? And how is it that I never seem to mind? If you could see me, book, I'd be laughing. A bit.

If you could read, book, I'd tell you to make sure to read the Prophet. Alas, I'll have to read it for you. I promise you this, my oldest friend, it'll be worth a hell of a laugh.

What I wouldn't give to see him again, book. The only one who's always understood.
She reads over the words she's written, and then again, and even once more. Slowly, she rises from her chair to make her way toward the nightstand beside her bed. Opening the drawer, she immediately pulls out a small Muggle photograph. At first, she doesn't look to the picture, but begins making her way back to her journal instead. She pauses mid-way, however, and looks down to the boy in the photo she holds in her pale hands. A small, perhaps wistful, smile forms and she eventually takes another few steps toward the target. She sets the photograph down on the page and snaps the book shut. With her lips set in a tight line, she turns on her heel and walks from the room, her head held high.

The Daily Prophet article is set between the following two pages.
Departing Hogwarts Head Boy Reveals All
Smith Takes First Step into Public Foray ___________________
Hogwarts Head Boy Greg Smith tackles his own cowardice, supported by Ravenclaw girlfriend Rowan Theirin in his quest to seek enlightenment at the London Academy of Magic.
by Rita Skeeter
Dark days lie ahead for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Between scandals involving werewolves and both a Headmaster and Deputy Headmistress gone mysteriously missing in the last year, one bright spot has been Hogwarts’ shy yet heart-wrenchingly handsome Head Boy, Greg Smith. His current girlfriend, a somewhat dumpy-looking and clumsy Ravenclaw girl named, of all things, “Rowan,” describes him as “after all, absolutely brilliant.” We won’t ask after what, of course. This is a family newspaper, "after all." But that bright, brilliant spot won't last long, as Head Boy Greg Smith is leaving Hogwarts for the London Academy of Magic -- some say, as soon as this week.
The dashing Greg Smith won an opportunity of a lifetime for a Hogwarts student when he visited the Academy recently. Reports say that this chance came when Greg won a Potions contest in the Advanced Potions class of Hogwarts Headmaster and Ministry of Safety Warden Snape and run by the famously skilled Academy Professors Bendus Blott and Vincent Haegan. Greg Smith won the prize by poisoning his best friend, and, by Greg's own admission, very nearly killing the poor boy. Greg expressed no remorse for his former friend, who is no longer able to attend school. Says Haegan, “Does he have what it takes to make it at the Academy? Probably not. But anyone who would stab their best friend in the back for a chance has got to be good for some entertainment value at least, eh?”
When asked how she would cope with her boyfriend leaving her for greener pastures and brighter futures, Rowan broke down in tears. “The last two weeks while we’ve been together have been the best of my life. I don’t know what I’m going to do without him...he’s the only thing I have to live for!” Sources have reported that Rowan has plans to sleep on the streets of London in the hopes that she’ll have a chance to catch a glimpse of her ex-boyfriend. Greg himself admits to having taken a liking to “a number of Academy girls.”
Friends of Greg’s say he’s been “petrified” the last couple weeks, as he prepares to move to the Academy. “Oh yeah, he hasn’t even packed yet, he’s so scared they’ll tell him they don’t want him. He came back from that tour white as a sheet,” says fellow Gryffindor student Daniel Callen. When pressed about his plans for the big move, Greg blushed and refused to comment. His girlfriend stepped up and responded for him, “Oh, I’m sure we’ll manage. It’ll be difficult, but I’m really smart, so I’ll think of a plan.”
Watch out, London Academy of Magic. Hogwarts’ best and slyest star, Greg Smith, is coming for you. And boy, are you in for a treat.

Perhaps, book, I spoke too soon. Ask and ye shall receive, words to live by. I've asked, and received in ways unexpected even to me, and it's glorious. But for now, it's time I sleep. Here's to hoping that those affected by the moon tonight stay well and safe.

Like two peas in a pod:
Meaning
Two identical items or people.
Origin
Possibly the 16th century. Derived from the fact that two peas from the same pod are practically identical and indistinguishable. Does NOT mean that there are only two peas in that particular pod, as most pods contain three or more peas. By that, I suppose one could say "We're like four other peas in a pod," and the saying would still be accurate. Strange.
Fingers crossed:
Meaning
A gesture to signify hope for good luck.
Origin
Possibly pre-Christian times, Europe. May have once required two people to seal the deal, one to wish and one to support. The gesture is a form of symbolism for the cross, which has been viewed as a sign of unity. In this day, one person may fulfill both roles with their own two fingers. Figures.

I had the most wonderful dream last night, book, with the help of my latest research candidate. While I've yet to manage control over the environment while in a lucid dream-state, my imagination has pieced together a most fantastic realm of solitude, a world in black and white with trees barely distinguishable from the clouds which seemed to hover obscurely low. I traveled the paths of my imagination for what felt like hours, though in reality, book, we both know that's impossible. As my feet grew tired, yes, even in dream, I stumbled on a bench meant for two. A touch small, I thought, as I looked down upon the bench; seemingly out of place amongst the natural foliage and beaten paths. I can see myself clearly, still. Sitting on the bench meant for two, in a world out of this world, in a world where everything appeared just a little too small. Though as I continue to write, the memories of my dream fade. The imagery less vivid, the feeling of experience slowly disappearing. Still, I'm left with a sense of familiarity. Had I been there before? Tonight, I'll look for clues.
