The letter had come, and it was a time of great celebration in the Leone household. Everyone was thrilled for Diane! That is...everyone except Diane herself.
She hadn't even known where England was, and had to look it up. Then, finding it on the globe in the living room, she had balked. We're her parents serious, sending her halfway across the globe, just to learn magic! Why couldn't she just do it here, home in New Jersey? All her friends were here, and both her parents were accomplished wizards!
But no. They had heard of Hogwarts reputation, thought it would be the best place for her. Of course, they didn't have to go.
Diane had to admit, the plane ride was fun. London seemed really old, and the train ride was interesting. Then, she had to find her House.
Slytherin. It almost sounded ominous, but she thought it was in a cool way. At least she didn't have to claim Hufflepuffs. The colors were strange, and now she knew she would have to get some new clothes...or at least change the colors of her current outfits. It was a boy from Gryffindor that had told her that, in no uncertain terms.
Diane had already started gaining a distaste for the Gryffindors, and she had only been there a day. Given time, she would be sure to pay back the "nice" way they had treated her. At least the Prefects from Ravenclaw were nice.
Still....poor Diane was stuck thousands of miles away from home. Away from everything she knew and loved. It was going to take some getting used too.
