Things have been looking quite grim in the past few days, weeks and
months. There's been a lot of hostility both on the forums, and IG.
Eventually the builder was driven away from the mod he created.
I'll always respect JB's wishes, especially when it comes to how he
chooses to handle the server. But, my responsibility doesn't rest with
SHO, any other builders, or indeed even JB.
I love all of 'em. =)
But my responsibility is with the players, even if some of them have been
acting like jerks.
So, the mod can now be found under Tech Support in the NWN Gamespy
Client. I'm hosting it for now, and I've actually got to say, the "prospects
look exciting."
It's going to be alot of work getting settled back in, but we'll carry on, like
we have the 2+ years I've played here.
Any questions, comments or w/e can be sent to me here on the forums,
or to nikblade2005@yahoo.com
Some things are too important to let die. =)

Sho was unpleasant to me over Nik's host, too--which, I hope everyone can recognize by now is totally ironic.

Really, Nev?
I befriended and worked with Sho and worked so hard to bring him back into the community, smoothed over the differences he had with some--including Kaz, encouraged his creative license with the mod, and in the end honored my word by not hosting the mod without his consent even though he acted abysmally. And then, after flipping out and spewing vitriol at everyone else, he even had some left for me.
I don't know about everyone else, but that was certainly contrary to what I would have expected and only morbidly amusing. I know people with longer history on the mod than me had expressed serious misgivings about him, but I really believed he had put all that behind him.
And I feel bad for him, still. Although the words and actions of certain others shouldn't be forgiven, Sho's recent behavior seems, to me at least, to indicate that he is not mentally or emotionally healthy. He may not be the only one with far too much attachment to NWN and HP in particular, but the fact that he is older and has a family and real life responsibilities makes the implications somewhat more disturbing.

Well, I'm just glad that I'm able to continue it.
I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't think people didn't want me to.

I don't know him or much about this whole thing but I sincerely hope his family isn't suffering through anyone's problems on NWN. I hope that anyone who reaches a point like that can recognize it, step back and regroup for their own good and for those around them.

Nik, I, and I'm sure a heck of a lot more really appreciate what you're doing. I do hope we can get things back to normal, if not better if we try!
Though, I'm curious, JB. Why did you agree to take the server down, when Nik is putting it back up anyway? You do support his generosity, right?
Anyway, thanks a lot, Nik, and all you other DMs and people who want to keep HP alive and healthy!

It's just an elaborate conspiracy, End.
We have this old tradition in the U.S. where, when a party becomes too crowded, you announce that it's being raided by the cops. Then as everyone scurries away in all directions, you drive around the block and all the people who were given advance notice resume partying.
I wouldn't take it too personally that you weren't given advance notice. I mean, I'm sure it was just an oversight. (Pssst... Nik, Plan B??)
But of course, I jest.
I thought I explained it clearly in "The World of Harry Potter" thread here in Announcements. If that doesn't do it for you, feel free to ask Nik and others. Oh, and by the way, the Cops!! RUN!!!

These kids are too young to remember those things JB... now a days either they dont party or... their parents buy all the booze for em.. ~laughs~ but I degress... its just good that a plan B was shifted into action and the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few... or the one..
