Their own eccentricities have led to them being thrown off a bus! How could two young wizards face such an injustice? It's seems society isn't so tolerant of others as people would have you believe!

*cough* You know I tend to think the bus driver is in the right. It's not "culture" it's a fetish, and fetishes belong at home, not out in public.

But then I have been accused by our resident leash-wearer if being close-minded.

If they had been going around scantily clad or something, then yes, I agree.
But a collar/leash is essentially just a necklace. ;>.>

If there was something else about it that they left unmentioned, that would somehow directly affect others (barking? crawling around?), then yes. It should likely stay at home.
But it's just a leash!

Not saying I'd have done the same thing in the bus driver's shoes...but I respect his right to do it.

I agree! ^^ I mean, they weren't exactly doing anything to harm or disturb anyone. If they had been doing the above, I would be with the bus driver's opinion.

Thats the thing, though. -does- he have the right to do it?

If he had asked them in a less offensive manner, chances are they might have taken it off for the time being.
I, at least, would have taken it off if asked in a reasonable manner. But then, I don't know them. They might not have.

If he had asked due to safety regulations, it would be a different matter, and entirely in his right.

But:
He shoved me off the bus. He called us freaks and he called Tasha a dog. He said, 'We don't let freaks and dogs like you on'. He basically grabbed my T-shirt and slammed me backwards.

If he had handled that differently, I might be inclined to agree with him. But to deny them just out of spite?

*nods* The bus driver needs to up his meds. And as for the leash...meh. I used to walk myself on a leash. Now that'll get you strange looks at the amusement park.

This is a fun topic to argue on!

I would have taken the leash off it was for health and safety or if asked nicely and given a sensible reason.
I think the bus driver was wrong to have pushed them off the bus or have called them freaks, or a dog. Just because people like to dress differently, or act in a different way, doesn't mean they should be discrminated like they were.

Definitely poorly handled...don't think anyone would question that.

Would I let a stranger wearing a leash into my car? Heck no...for the same reason they don't let you wear long necklaces or chains into courthouses anymore.

And who's arguing? Two sides voicing opinions...good stuff.

Though I agree with the fetish comment, I have to say Fel's point speaks much louder. The Bus driver is in the wrong here. if you agree with the lifestyle/fetish/whatever or not, you shouldn't treat people like that no matter what.


Personally it sounds like the driver turned it personal really quick. (maybe his kid dresses goth or something *shrug*)

If the bus driver actually asked politely if they would remove the leash, then it would be a different story.

So yeah, for once in my life I'm enjoying aruging! Yay!

It doesn't sound like much of an argument. We're all just saying the same thing over and over. The bus driver should have handled it better, and hopefully the two would take off the leash for the time being.
