I am just kinda lost. Confused also. I have been wondering what period of time we are in WoHP? I am not trying to make a big deal, or not make anybody mad, I am just curious. There is just to me, alot of -holes- in the server. Like How there are 3 DADA teachers at the school at a time. All of them never filled a Hogwarts position to the class until Mr. Potter came along. Same with Hagrid for Care of Magical Creatures. There are several things that don't ever exist until Harry Potter's time. Its just all a bit confusing to me. Specially sense I am pretty sure that Voldemort Exist's and so do Death Eaters on the server. So the real question is, Where is Harry Potter? The Whole server revolves around him anyways. Anyways, I was just saying. If any of you can help my out there, that would be awesome.
P.S - I know the server is -based- off of the books, but then what's the point in Voldemort if Harry Potter never comes and ends his rein. *shrugs*

Srsly,
So many people have differing ways of explaining all this. We have already started work on an extensive FAQ that will hopefully answer all these questions, but the answers are still not completely coherent. We'll get that posted as soon as it's ready.

Didn't we play it as being current day...? In an alternate timeline where
all the teachers are alive and teaching at the same time and so forth?

Yah, I had always thought that it was just a wizarding world, but Harry Potter didn't exist in it. I mean, have you ever heard anyone, including NPC's, telling the legend of Harry Potter in the mod?

Don't even talk to her, she just raves about how burly Hagrid is.

That's the basic answer IMO.

Agreed.
Although, Tom in the tavern with no sign (don't rightly know the name) does make reference to the books by greeting everyone as if they were Harry Potter (not sure if that was changed in a recent update, but I last time I was there that was the case.)

I always just chalked that one up to Tom being a raving lunatic >.>;

There was plans to change the beginning to where it made no reference to the books at all. This included Hagrid's presence in Diagon Alley.

I think Hagrid should be there, at least for first years. Seeing as he helps with the shopping and such, though I suppose an alternative could be made. Still, of all the book-things, he's hardly one of the worse. Would rather see places such as Grimmuald Place and Private Drive gone, and particularly King's Cross moved a bit, to where it makes at least a little sense..

Reebober has actually spent much of the last few days going over the "long start" option. It's probably going to be replaced or edited to remove the feeling that you "are" Harry Potter, or removed completely. I still like to give the option to go through Diagon and purchace your stuff if you want to.
The built-in book plots are also slated to be actually moved to the library as if they were magical historical adventures or something like that. As they are now, it clashes too hard with RP.

Sounds interesting. Though I guess that means a lot more locked doors/areas in Hogwarts.

Actually those areas would still really exist within Hogwarts, so you would still be able to go there.

Well with all those changes, maybe we should change the name of the module, from harry potter, to maybe hogwarts? Anyway, when you guys finish with all the changes, this will be no longer the hp world. Cheers
