The Students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy are invited to a closed-door session sponsored by Madam Pomfrey and her staff. Several members of the staff from Saint Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries will be on hand to provide information about their responsibilities and answer specific and general questions concerning the work of Healers in public hospitals.

Topics to be covered will include the Healer profession, particular areas of specialization, required training, and potential internships. In order to provide sufficient attention to the attendees, the Headmaster has asked that only those students seriously considering careers in the Healer's Arts to attend.

OOC Translation: This is the first of several career workshops that will be taking place. If your character does not have any serious desire to be a healer and YOU DO NOT INTEND ON DOING THE REQUIRED RP that will be needed to further move the character along the path (i.e. yes, bedpans and such will be included), please either don't show up or, if you do, sit quietly and don't get in the way of your peers' roleplay.

I don't want to sound mean, but if you show up and act out, you'll be asked to go. This is a serious effort to help others develop their characters.

Time and date will be posted once I see how much of an attendance to expect.

For a rough listing of what to expect:

Wizarding Healer Careers: EMTs, Sports Healers (i.e. Quidditch), General Practitioners (family doctors), Public and Private Specialists (Private Practice and Mungo's), and Nursing Staff.

Magical Areas of Concentration: Classes, O.W.L./N.E.W.T. requirements, etc.

Internships: Mostly individual RP work with some DM interactions.

RP Requirements: Solo, group, and DM-sponsored RP work to advance.

Advancements for Characters: Specialized Wand Spells and Items.

If you are interested in attending, and your name is not on this list, let me know via this thread ASAP. Again, this program will involve active direction with your character and RP work. Don't show up just to show up, please. And as an advanced warning, anyone who does show up just to cause giggles and grief will be asked to leave. This is the equivalent of having highly trained professionals take time out of their lives to come speak to students.

Other career days will be held, so don't feel like you are being left out if you don't bring your character to this one. There will be more opportunities.

FYI, I (Jason Ringer) wont be attending since I'm OOT. Too bad I'm going to miss this because I've been RPing towards Jason being a Healer Wizard when post-grad becomes available.
