I can't help but whole heartedly agree with you, adam. I put "at least two weeks" there to be diplomatic, but I'd love it if the advancement was actually so slow that you'd -feel- like you were at a school year for a decent while. As it is, I can hardly blink as characters zoom up the years. 8O

Alex: I know you haven't. I don't come on much anymore.. It just got boring for me.

Ah that's a shame... You should come on every now and then, even if it's only for an hour or two each day. I'm sure Alex will make things less boring.

Well, both yes and no. I've been having the exact same problem, as my character is supposed to be a very insecure girl. However, it's a question of balance. Making contact doesn't necessarily mean going "HIYA HOW ARE U GAIZ DOIN?". A simple emote, like *looks shyly, but curiously, over at the group of students* should be more than enough to get other players going; at least it would, for me. There are many ways a player can establish contact with other players, nudging them to let their characters take charge in conversation, without having to play against character. At least, that's my experience.

Well yes, that's deffinately true and sometimes it does work, but generally, in my experience, people don't really notice or just ignore you, too busy with their gossipping (gosh, sounds like my school!). That's why I was kinda pleased when my character got attacked as it helped to create a sitution in which the ice was broken with a number of people.

Also Alex: I completely agree about the shy/timid thing. It's a real [censored], isn't it? I'd RP a shy character, but I found that problem last time I tried.

I've found that thing in real life actually. But yeah it's annoying, but makes sense since it hapepns in real life, it's likely occur in an RP server such as this.

A limit would be quite good deffinately, but you're right that more DM events need to be focused on lower years as well as higher years, as well as being at a bit more reasonable times for europeans as the recent CoMC class is an example. Stuff like that would keep the interest for people coming in to continue untill they can graduate. Maybe a couple of other low level creature areas as well when you're level 2, there's only a few places you can realistically go to and survive more than 30 seconds, again giving young years more stuff to do.

But at least Alex has been a fourth year for god knows how long, he's certainly not rushing

Actually JB is a former DM. But he is the admin of this forum. Which I guess makes him just as important. ;)

Gotcha. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter, though, if you'd like to share. :)

Two months, JB? Let's go the whole way, then. A YEAR! I win.

Alex: The event thing is a big issue here, I find. The fact that the DMs seemed to refuse to hold events at GMT-friendly times was a major contributer towards my decision to pack my bags and get the Hell away from this server, and find a game that provided a level of interaction regardless of your time-zone.

Lately, We have been doing our best to have interactions between PC/DMs as much as we can for people in other timezones. I've been slowly getting into things to try and make it enjoyable for those, and I haven't seen you play here for a nice long time now Paul, how long has it been? We have been doing somethings at other times, but gradually at least I have been doing things early(At least my early.) For others.

It doesn't matter how much you explain it to Paul. He'll continue to find a way to [censored], moan, and troll about it.

While we make a honest effort to think about our three players from Europe, unfortunately the world isn't flat, and most of the players live in a place where the sun goes down at a vastly different time than those three players. Events (including a simple class) take more effort and preparation that most players can possibly know. A two hour class will often take six hours of prep time (in many cases a lot more than that), and we usually try to schedule them at times when the most players can enjoy them.

That said, we do make an effort to include our "other country people" and are actively working on including them more, as they are in fact valued members of the server.

No offense, but that last post was quite condescending to us Europeans. While there may be not as many as there are Yanks, I'd be pretty certain that there's more than 3 of us. And often there are plenty of people online between 8 and 10pm gmt even on week days (3-5 EST) and especially on weekends when there's no need for ridiculous times as people are likely to be on early evening anyway. And while it may not be said in the most diplomatic way, Paul does have a point. Last proper DM event I went to was on new years day at some crazy time (but being new years day that was okay)... Though it was quite fun, since I'd drank a lot of Pimm's... Though my views may be slightly skewered due to the fact that I've missed a lot of the server due to my old laptop being unable to run NwN.

Alex is right one again. There is an overlap where US and EU players tend to be online together, and yet it is rarely used.

How foolish of me to think that we "valued" "Other country" types should hoppe that this wouldn't be an issue in the first place and be slightly under-whelmed with joy at the prospect of a gradual resolution from -one- GM.

Calan meant our three favorite European players.

And they all understand that we have been operating a conspiracy for the sole purpose of driving Adam from the server. So it's all good.
