HOLY S***! This stuff is serious, anyone else hear anything? So far I've heard that Egypt has killed off all it's pigs and haven't even gotten a outbreak yet. Officials say that this won't even help from stopping this from going global. I think if they danger status goes any higher up here in the US we'll be under Martial Law or something, confined to our houses.

Okay, I'm going to go a tincy incy bit Biological here... Most of the inhabitants of Europe are descended from people who have encountered these kinds of Diseases, therefore, over time, people have been through mutations which mean you're immune to certain things. Heck, maybe some people are immune to AIDs? (And please don't try and get AIDs to see if you're immune. >.>) So, really, we should only really go through a bit of a bad flu. And, I highly doubt Egypt has killed all their Pig livestock...? :S

Well, according to the Mexican government, we Canadians are to blame. Some crazy chain of events that involved a Canadian tourist and a rogue pig...
But my community's taking it pretty serious. One mother was diagnosed with some of the swine flu symptoms, so all schools in this school board have shut down until they know if it actually is the flu or not. I personally think it's an overreaction. We've lived through the avian flu, whatever the flu was before that, SARS...yeah. It's just people being overcautious to the point of panic.

Everyone just needs to chill. Fear is what drives these things mostly.

Seriously. It might get bad, but right now, it just seems like a lot of hype. Regular flu is much worse than this in deaths so far. Sure, some countries' citizens have bad access to health care with the kind of jobs they wanted, but a lot of countries can handle it better than regular flu. Yeah, I'm not too worried about this, personally.

For the record: The danger status is not based on how deadly the disease is, but rather by how infectious it is. While this flu is highly contagious, it is not deadly to those with normal immune systems. In truth, only children under the age of 2, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are at any kind of substantial risk of death. Just thought I'd clear that up, since all my friends use the danger status as an excuse for their paranoia (one's even bought a two month supply of surgical masks ). PS: The regular flu kills more people annually than these supposed pandemics do, and we have a vaccine for it. So stop worrying about these weird animal flus and get the regular flu shot instead!

Tsu and Jinx are probably right. The avian flu didnt really turn into a mass killer did it. So just relax, dont sneeze into peoples faces and take a long bath.

I wish this disease would turn people into anthropomorphic pigs. Give you a curly tail, pug nose and pink complexion!

Gee, thanks PT. I love you too. Don't worry. I'm not deathly ill yet and I'm not planning on it. (I think I'm the only one in Western Canada, right?)
