Maybe. In that case, I suggest doing your own research. Especially considering how insulting it can be to some Canadians to say we are a part of the USA, since it disregards our place as a sovereign nation, among other thngs. Also, you don't read much in the way of news, do you, Shay? If not, I suggest you do, as then you could have figured this out on your own, me thinks.

I know it was made in jest, so I personally don't mind. Although one too many jokes about Canada in party chat have seriously upset me in the past... its not happening as much as it used to.  Moderation is a good thing.

(just don't ask me which ones. i think it was Israeli or Iraq or somewhere like that) me i read fiction, fiction is good & its not scary at all like the real thing is.....

Shifting a bit off topic here (Not that you could tell), but... Not everything about the news is all doom and gloom. Honestly, I think ignorance will nip you in the future more then the news will now. Besides, you gotta figure out how to deal with unwarranted panic and half-truths at some point, I should hope (Although not all news is filled with that, of course).  I try to do that using clippings from the news and some research of my own to do that. *Rolled a 20 on her tired rambling. Woooot!*

Okay, now then... back on the topic of how Canada is absolutely brilliant (some days). Recently there was a survey done showing about how Canadians on the whole aren't able to recognize some of the most famous Canucks we have (local or world stage). I should be able to summon the article for you all, mainly as I am certain the same thing would be found in most countries: popular artists will be remembered longer than world leaders. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/nova-scotia/st ... ll029.htmlSeriously scary when you think about it in some ways.

Is it really? Personally, I find that article is deeply rooted in the "Water Is Wet" school of journalism. People have an easier time recognizing someone they've seen a lot in modern media (Celine Dion) than someone they may never even have seen a picture of (Frederick Banting). This, to me, is no surprise, and doesn't tell us anything about Canadians except they are more immersed in popular culture than (relatively speaking) obscure historic figures. You could argue that Banting should get more attention from the media than Dion. I would not argue against, simply because I think she is an ungodly harpy making the worst music known to man.
