It is still nice to know that people still game. As for books, yes. Ranging back from the beautiful "Basic Box Set" with the wooden dice all the way up to an early .pdf print off of the 4E books.

All I can honestly say, is that I am envious of you Sagira. I don't say that about a lot of people with a "monstrous collection", but with the history you speak of and the location of such where you used to live, I bow before you...humbled.

I might have some printed out copies of various rules somewhere. Sadly (at least to those afficianados here), my main system of choice is still White Wolf. (And that's another thread.) Still, I remember playing an old, used copy of the original Dungeons and Dragons which my friend Elric's father had. (Yes, he bought it back when it was new. My friend's dad was also the person who really inspired me to learn about computers in at least some way. And yes, Elric is my friend's real name.)

My favourite version of the game had to have been Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Second Edition. Yes, I'm old. Sue me.

I did note the "another thread" comment, but it doesn't seem like something we can fill a thread with. And I have to point out that I'd fight any of those aficionados any day. I've played about a thousand times more D&D, but WW is the superior system by far. The single die mechanic of the d20 system is hopelessly flawed. Dice pool systems generating a better statistical curve is a much better choice.

Yeah, I will have to agree as well. As much as I love the D&D system (Basic, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (3.0/3.5)), I would prefer using the White Wolf Wold of Darkness any day. I prefer the slow to advance system that they use to the more XP driven system of D&D. I know you get experience in the WoD games, but you don't look at it as you gain 1,000 xp and you hit lvl 2 and you gain access to all these new abilities like you do in any D&D system.

But what am I talking about? I will RP damn near any system. I haven't played more than a couple of handfuls, but I would try almost anything once...twice if I like it.

I gots me some D&D 3.0 and 3.5 (mixed but hardly matched) books, a large stack of paper from my DMing days and various character sheets. And, of course, I have my dice container standing on my desk, always within reach when I needs me some rollin'

~Also, kudos to Sagira on the vast and impressive collection! Skull 8)
