I'm rather curious - what does everyone think about the fact that the last movie is going to be spilt into two parts?

For those of you who don't know, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is going to be a two-part film. Part 1 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2010. Part 2 is scheduled for release on July 15, 2011.

Do you all think they're finally putting in the admit of detail that should have been in all this time? Is it a money grab? Discuss, as I am curious. :P

I think that it's a terrific idea to put this in a two part sequence. It helps to get the entire book into film. I think that this should have been done with the fifth and sixth one as well. Get in the smaller details rather than just the whole main plot. I would have liked to see the entire thing portrayed rather than just the main Voldy sequence. *Nod nod*

If any of that makes sense.

The two part split is due to the fact there is far too much important, and crucial things happening in the plot. It is foolish to omit any of it, and they should never have done so in the others.

It may be a money grab, but it really isn't. You aren't going to sit willingly for six plus hours straight, you need breaks. They will however release it together.

I know it isn't, but you never know what some people think. :D

See, if they made it into one film, it would be as awful as the Watchmen. Watchmen was over three hours, and you'd double that for Harry Potter. Although, I'd still watch Harry Potter because it is simply amazing, and I'm a huge fan. But, Watchmen was purely awful in the end.

And, I do hope they do this properly. I'm entering a contest on CBC, or CTV, whichever it was, to become a moving portrait in the Movie. Although, I'll lose, like always.

It also gets more money but here's hoping that instead of snipping out a TON of stuff like they did in the other movies, that they put together this last one to make a final wonderful statement to conclude the HP cycle.

You can't sit for six hours straight, you did need breaks, I can perfectly understand that. So let's hope they can do everything that needs to be done and it will be good.

This last one, wasn't too bad. But I hope the last one (or two movies in this case) will be better.

Just going to say... If one movie grosses this much income, then expect it to be double, or more for the two-part movie. This is only in five days too!

Money grab??? Who bloody cares, they deserve it! I would -gladly- pay twice in order to get the proper detail that the story deserves.

I agree with Calan, HP needs the detail and would be willing to pay a lot more than for a usual movie.

//What the heck, I thought Calan hated the HP books, well that taught me not to listen to rumors.

haha... No, I don't hate the books at all. I have a language processing learning disability that makes it difficult to read quickly or for long periods of time. I get particularly overwhelmed while reading books, or RPing in a crowded room. (Everyone has issues with that, but I literally start to shut down)

I prefer the audio books (or Ree reading them to me!) so that my mind can focus on the story.

I don't have any problems reading, however, when I was a little girl and the HP books first came out, there would always be a pile-up on my parents' bed, as my dad read the first couple of books, at least, to me and my mom. :)

Fun times.

My Dad did the same for my and my brother Alesu :) He was very good at the voices and we usually got 1 or 2 chapters a night. He only did it for the first book though, after that I read them on my own. Although at the time it took me about 4-5 months to read the second book because the voice in the wall Harry was hearing freaked me out and of course I read at night while alone in my room :P

My Mother, and I read the first few together, then when times became more difficult to have the free time necessary, we read them seperately, but waited for each other to catch up.

I also enjoy listening to the books, especially Stephen Fry reading them. That my friends is the best way to enjoy the world of Harry Potter.
