So I'm the only one who hated the movie? I thought it was terrible.

I hated the Goblet Of Fire film. I didn't think this one was terrible. It had a few very weak sides (for example, the off-handed way Snape just went ohbythewayI'mthehalfbloodprince at the end felt like they had just forgotten a decent chunk of the book, and decided to try to redeem it with a single line. Didn't quite work for me), but I didn't hate it. Very good acting, stunning visually, and not so damn action oriented.

The first movie was OK. Since then, each movie has been successively worse than the one before it. As the books have gotten longer, so too have the movies felt less like full stories and more like a pile of scenes glued to one another.

There's no specific inaccuracy that I'll point out, no actor who I think lacks talent. In their effort to create two to three hour films out of these monster books I think they've just buried themselves in suck.

I'm convinced that the only reason most people have an emotional connection to these movies is because of fanservice. These movies, on their own merit, stink.

Or at least, I think so.

I don't think what you're saying is without merit. It's all down to personal taste, but your arguments are all fairly reasonable, if you ask me.

I'm in agreement with you Nik, if it matters.

To be completely honest, after the third movie I realised that to actually enjoy the movies you have to separate them from the books. The books are very long with loads of details that the movies can't entirely get to. So, if you think of the movie as a separate entity from the book entirely and just a Harry Potter movie, they are much more enjoyable.

What I'm saying is, that's what I tried to do. I'm trying to judge them on their own merit.

I can't imagine enjoying the movies at all if I didn't happen to have my book knowledge to fill in the blanks.
