Well, here's my character Bio. 29 views so far. http://forums.wohp.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3558Anyhow, im liking the idea of 2-3 weeks for the first two years, 3.5 weeks for third, month and a half for fourth/fifth, and 1.5 months to two for 6/7th year?

As Nik has stated, the First Year goes by fast, regardless, and it would be pointless to wait two months for each year. A progressional board should be established in which we all agree upon.

If we are all doing this, we need to know each others gametimes, and timezones so we can plan times to be on.
I'm -5 GMT, so Easter Standard Time (EST)

I change from -5 GMT to -6 GMT. Depends if it's daylight savings or not.

I always thought it'd be cool to do this on Hogwart's time. I know many of you don't like that, I have read your posts. Just for kicks, I looked at http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ and found out that the train would leave King's Cross three weeks from today, and 11:00 am in British Summer Time (BST) would be *gasp* 3:00 a.m. my time. I'm dedicated, buuuutttt.....yeah. Theoretically, if we did a Start of Term Feast that night, say 8 p.m. Hogwarts time, that would be noon my time. More doable. Anyway, that site has a "converter" you can use to plug in your time zone and convert it to Hogwarts time. Also, if you get bored with the month long or two-month long or whatever we decide on time frame for each year, play your other character. I'm REALLY not interested in having another Seventh Year with nothing to do. Oh, and Misty, I LOVED your post and all your suggestions. Totally awesome, I absolutely love it!

Quick question, do we actually wanna RP the shopping in Diagon...? I mean, it's a sweet idea but that would technically mean we'd have to secondary-emote RP as the childrens parents. Yes? Could get weird.

Everyone doesn't shop the same day, although it did look like that in the books, and movies. So, we don't have to, but it would be a good idea to.

BSMCG wrote: Everyone doesn't shop the same day, although it did look like that in the books, and movies. So, we don't have to, but it would be a good idea to. I'm just going to throw this out here.... (Skip to the bottom for the cliffnote version if you want) How about everybody does their shopping on Friday Aug. 28th and Saturday Aug. 29? Whenever you log on with the firstie, just keep that character within the Leaky Cauldron/Diagon Alley areas on those two days. That should give some time for the firsties to meet and chat up other firsties and even older students who happen to be around. Then, I'd suggest we do the whole Hogwarts Express/Sorting/Start of term Feast thing on Sunday, Aug. 30st sometime. Doing it on Sept 1st would be neat, but, since it's a weekday I suspect many people will have school/work/sleep conflicts. If the train ride/sorting/feast is done on Sunday, there'd probably be fewer time conflicts (I think? Maybe?). There's like 1 hour of game time for every 20 minutes of RL time right? (except curfew time skip). So an 8 hour train ride would in game would be about 2.5 hours in RL. That seems like a good window of time to me. So we could come up with a good time for the Feast/Sorting to begin, and just have the train ride begin about 3 hours RL time before that. Which gives people a 3 hour window in which to jump on the server and RP their firstie's train ride, and even (maybe, if people want) also spend a little time jumping on with older character's to have some train-RP fun too. Also, if the GMs are reaaally nice to us, maybe we could just ignore curfew the first night if IG curfew happens to conflict with what turns out to be the best RL time for us to hold the Feast/Sorting? That way, we could let the Feast go on for a few of RL hours too, so there can be more RP, and just in case anybody still ends up with RL time conflicts but who can still log on within part of the time window to get their character Sorted with other players around to RP it too. Cliffs:
- I suggest Diagon Shopping running all day on Friday Aug. 28 and Saturday Aug. 29.
- The train ride to be about 3 hours RL time on Sunday Aug. 30.
- The Feast/Sorting to likewise be like 3 hours RL time on Sunday Aug. 30, following the train ride (with curfew ignored if it conflicts with best RL time to play this).

I'm rather liking this idea. If it's not too late to hop on the bandwagon, I'll make a character when it rolls around!

I like Misty's idea, and if we can't do it "by the book" on Sept. 1, I think this is a good option. Also, if the DM teams could coordinate and have Diagon NPC's possessed, that would be very cool for our shopping experiences! Particularly Ollivander, so no one ends up with a Neanderthal club for a wand, if those still exist.
And of course, we'd probably run into other students already attending Hogwarts who are doing a bit of shopping, so other players should feel free to come to Diagon during that time. If we have a conglomeration of PCs and possessed NPCs in Diagon....well. That'd be the first time I can think of that ever happening on this server. So cool.
