I might be failing really badly, but I am not getting this to work. A friend and I are really wanting to play the single player campaign of neverwinter nights via LAN. However, when either of us host the game we cannot connect from the other side. It isn't just that we cannot connect, but we cannot not even see their hosted LAN server. We both own our own copies. Is there anything that we could be missing?

Hosting a server on NWN (LAN or otherwise) is a royal pain in the a**. I've -never- been successful recently, though I was able to ages and ages ago on my dial up (not recommended! lol). My first guess is firewall troubles, but theres a lot more it could be too I guess.

Does your router have LAN enabled? And as Feargus says, check the firewalls. If you, your router, or your friend have a firewall, you might need to portforward it up.

Your LAN is typically behind the router firewall. You might make sure the Windows firewall is disabled on both/all computers, however.

When I hosted (on a dedicated server), I think I typically connected via the LAN. I don't remember having any problems doing so.

I'm connected via router with my other PC - Two copies of NWN, and I host via LAN.

Things I had to note, make sure your firewall allows NWN to act as a server. If it isn't allowing you to do anything, then that is your reason.

Thank you everyone. The problem was that HE didn't have firewall to correct settings.
