Only 6 months? That's the farthest you can possibly get from it, assuming you count previous Halloweens.
But, whatever. Usually, I just watch horror movies and occasionally answer the door. Everybody's afraid of where I live, since it's very Victorian. Leafless, twisted, black walnuts, too. Essence of scary house. Whatever. It's nifty how I don't need to decorate for Halloween.
(I sure hope this is the kind of response within a 4-mile margin of failure that you're looking for.)

Halloweeeeeeen!! Is it bad that i started planning for this year on November 1 of LAST year? My best friend and I have adopted Halloween as our thing to do together...we'll probably go to a bar where one of our friends' bands is playing for the night. A cool idea that I saw at a Halloween party once, and totally stole for my own the following year, was playing old black and white horror movies on all the TV's in the house on mute. Makes great background scenery. I'd recommend White Zombie (1932) with Bela Lugosi especially.

The last few years I've had some buddies come over for Halloween, and then we just walk around the neighborhood and scare all the kids. And we pick up some candy on the way.
I really like Halloween, but I'm not creative enough to plan 6 months ahead. But this year me and my roommate were thinking of setting up a haunted house somewhere. We really got inspired by some Nox Arcana music (Thanks RT!).

Hmm, this sort of response is likely to have me with a mob following me with pitchforks and torches. I don't celebrate Halloween, generally. Its just really never interested me. That said, A couple friends of mine occasionally have costume parties. They're usually just good excuses to be drunk and stupid though, lol.

Don't worry, Feargus. I don't really celebrate it either. Partly because it never really hit in Denmark, or at least the area I live in, until recently.

I've never really been in a crowd to celebrate with, and my town is generally not too flamboyant with it either. This year, I'll probably party..should think of what I'm going as.

Norway isn't -that- big on Halloween. But I like it, it's the best of the cheap, money-grubbing holidays you 'murricans have sent us. Still, I think planning for Halloween half a year in advance is a little obsessive.

Nah, a well planned Halloween is really fun. It's probably the best holiday of the year.

Well you need to figure out a costume. And if you're going to go for something cool it can take three to four months to make. Especially since you need to buy a part here, buy a part there, then put it all together.
I'm not a big costume guy really. But, should I have a huge party or something I am doing for Halloween that requires one then I usually take several months to plan and gather.

I've had a few ideas. One of my sister's friends told me not to shave for a while, and then I can go as Wolverine. I'm pretty sure my hair is more than long enough to pull it off, so I'm considering that one. I also might get some friends together and do a group thing. Maybe the Three Muskateers, or the Soggy Bottom Boys.
