Seriously, I'm not. This is an illusion. You're confused.

Okay, I'm not back but I am alive. And well. And I'm very very sorry to everyone who knew me once upon a time for going into hiding for so long. Have you ever had something that was your whole life and you realized one day that you had to leave it? And the only way to do that was to go cold turkey. I'm that way with ex-girlfriends (note to the girls: Don't date me). When I have to let go of something that means as much to me as Harry Potter did, the only way for me to do it without tearing myself up inside is to leave it completely, and with all my heart.

When graduate school kicked into high gear this past fall, I realized I couldn't manage both. I knew I could never do Harry Potter part time (it was a part of me, and too important to be done half-assed). But I also couldn't let grad school slip. Being a teacher is too important to me too. So not only did I leave the server, I left the forums and all the friends I'd made along the way. I didn't email, I didn't MSN, I didn't PM. I walked away, because I had to.

I'm better for it, I really am. I actually haven't played NWN since late November, and my only roleplaying has been with my once a month PnP group, which has been therapeutic.

I cannot put into words what this place meant to me. Means. I will always remember my time here, especially my early days, as some of the happiest times in my life. Calan, Ree, RT, Chris, Chelsea, Tsu, Seril -- you guys made me love DMing, and made me a loved DM. JB...I don't have the words, man. You were my rock, my brother, my friend, from the first day to the last. I miss you all, everyone here, like the sun misses the rain.

I'm not back. Seriously. I'm not logging into the server, and I probably won't spend much time on the forums (I've always peeked in here and there, by the way). I don't have the time or energy for it anymore. But I couldn't be a ghost any longer. This last month I've had more and more memories and dreams from those days flooding back, and they're lovely memories. I'll never have those days again, but I can cherish the memories I have of them.

I'm not sorry I did what I did, but I do apologize. If that makes any sense. I email (talespinner22@gmail.com) and twitter (tikigreg) these days. I don't really MSN anymore, and I'm long gone from Facebook. PMs will always get through, one way or another.

Those of you who know me, please know what you mean to me. I miss you.

There's an old saying that I like to believe whole-heartedly in. It goes something like, "No one ever truly leaves HP unless they're banned." You are a part of this family. Albeit large and disheveled at times. I'm glad to know that you've done something that will benefit you in the longrun, though. I would be extremely disappointed if you had thrown away your dream to be on an RP server, even if it is loads of fun.

While you may not be back it's comforting to know that such a brilliant ray of sunshine is still out there. And even more than just being there, thinking about us. I can't even begin to count the times you've instantly brought me out of a bad mood. Or the times you've made us all laugh. You're a great person, through and through. And as Ree's already stated, you are most definitely missed.

We'll be anxiously awaiting your return, whenever you get some free time, or when grad school finishes. Everyone comes back. Goofus.
