I've noticed that if something large and scary has succeeded in chasing you out of an area, then when you come back in later some script has wiped the spawn and reset it. I was wondering if you used animal empathy or dominate etc. to take a creature from one place to another then released it (say if you wanted to leave some pixies in Lockhart's office, hypothetically of course ), would it despawn as soon as you left the room or would it stay there?

Well.... in mechanics of typical spawning in most servers that'd be bad for someone who wanted to collect that spawns drop. Let me explain it real fast.
1. Charm and dominate will not let you take a creature spawn out of the area unless you there is one person in the area you are currently in, thereby holding onto the dominated spawn so it cannot despawn while you are loading. Since creatures do not have loading screens, they kinda just wait.
2. If Calan made it possible to move them from area to area with ease and removed the despawn, it'd cause some rather terrible problems. Say you dominated the Erumpent and took it to...we'll stick with lockharts class room. As long as that Erumpent is still alive, then it won't spawn where it should be and no one would be able to recieve the homework they need.
3. I really do not reccomend doing 1 at all because 2 would be bad if someone decided to hide all the spawns somewhere.

Oh well, I'll just have to give up on my dream of tormenting Lockhart. Thanks for the information. I know on some servers once you take an animal out of the area it gets ignored and more creatures keep spawning like usual, but usually that also means that if you don't kill the spawn then it waits until someone else does and if it's still alive when the next spawn hits then you can end up with an army of goblins chasing you around the woods lol.

Yeah the last thing we need is an army of mountain trolls chasing firsties all over the school. Althought that would be mildly entertaining, keep them from being late too. Go, Calan, Go....! Code it nowz!
