JK Rowling found a description of how the Celts had assigned trees to different parts of the year, therefore gave Harry, Ron & Hermione the correct wood for their wands according to their birthdays. Yeah, I think so too. I'd have a wand of holly, by the way. Amber would have a wand of elder, though.

Mine -would- be Oak. However I don't think magic is limited to lists. So my current wand is made from Angel Fire wood with a mastodon core.... and some glitter.
