I'm safe, in case anyone were worried or something. Situation's pretty crazy though, large parts of downtown look like a combat zone.

Update: Apparently, there's an ingoing shooting at Utøya outside of Oslo, and early reports suggest several people have been shot. The place is a summer camp for the Young Social Democrats, and I have friends there. Mojo (or prayers, if that's your thing) appreciated, guys.

The Utøya shooter has been caught. I'm told that he has claimed there will be two more attacks following.

Preliminary news reports give the attacker's name (withheld here as it's not yet official), and describes him as a Norwegian christian conservative with radical right-wing sympathies.

The suspect's Facebook page, for anyone curious who did it.He lists his activities as "founding and developing organizations", "freemasonry" and "political analysis". His favorite books are Nineteen Eight-Four, The Prince, The Critique of Pure Reason, Consequences of Pragmatism, On Liberty and An Essay Concerning Human Understanding. Sounds like he'd be a douchebag even if he weren't a murderous nutjob.

But for what its worth, if they did stop off in Oslo, the chances of them having been hurt are very low; the worst blast area is not a part of town tourists visit. A survivor of the shooting at Utøya wrote an accountant of her experience on her blog. I will not share it here, as I do not want to ruin your day. Rest assured that it was absolutely gruesome, and knowing that what her story is shared by five hundred other traumatized teenagers is unbearable. Is your friend alright? Mum and Dad are fine; they didn't stop off in Oslo at all. Apparently flags were flying at half mast on the ship though. Hope my brother has forgiven me for waking him up at 5am to see if he knew anything.
How the hell did this [censored] manage to shoot so many people?
