Has anyone else noticed that Harry Potter is supposed to take place in England, but they measured the wands in inches?

But the wizarding world is way older than that. Maybe they found using inches was convenient for proper wand length and just stuck with it.

There are different versions of the books, aren't there? And even in the first movie, there were two versions made with slight differences, I thought. Maybe inches was part of the "American version" as in "Sorcerer's Stone" instead of "Philosopher's Stone." Maybe! I know there were a few other specific things changed between UK and American versions of the book.

We have inches in England, but we use centimetres for most things nowadays. In the English Harry Potter books its refered too in inches aswell, I think it's probably what Tosser said it is, makes the most sense to me.

It is a wizards inch based on the length of tail a newt can grow back in a given moon cycle.
